  Watford were unlucky weren't they? Honestly thought Peterborough would make life more difficult for Sunderland too.
  
  This was the Villa team: Steer, Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Bennett, El Ahmadi, Sylla, Albrighton, Bacuna, Tonev, Kozak. Subs: Guzan, Clark, Helenius, Weimann, Bowery, Johnson, Robinson. Obviously not their strongest 11, but not awful either. Spurs had the likes of Lamela, Sandro, Paulinho and Holtby in their side though, so I guess squad depth won the day.
  
  Don't really fancy any upsets tonight. Leeds could cause Newcastle some problems depending on what sort of side Pardew sends out, but who knows.

  MAN UTD v LIVERPOOL
  Which is fair enough really. The return of Luis Suarez, the pressure on David Moyes and the simple fact that it's these two playing makes it far more intriguing than your average 3rd round tie. Liverpool will want to win of course, but after losing to Brendan Rodgers' side and Man City in the league recently, United need to.
  
  That will be made harder by the absence of Robin van Persie with a groin injury, Rafael and Phil Jones are doubtful too. Liverpool are without Glen Johnson, Phillippe Coutinho and Joe Allen. Daniel Agger is doubtful.
  
  Birmingham v SWANSEA
  The games are coming thick and fast for Swansea but as holders you'd expect them to take this seriously, and not rotate themselves out of the competition at the first hurdle. Having said that, Ashley Williams and Pablo Hernandez are unlikely to be risked. Neil Taylor has recovered from a dead leg though and could return.
  
  Jesse Lingard scored 4 goals for the home side at the weekend, but the terms of his loan from Man Utd mean he's ineligible for this one, Kyle Bartley misses out for the same reason.
  
  NEWCASTLE v Leeds
  The Magpies' encouraging run came to an end against Hull at the weekend so they'll want to avoid an upset here and return to winning ways. Jonas Gutierrez and Massadio Haidara could feature, but Yohan Cabaye, Steven Taylor and Shola Ameobi are doubtful. Much will depend on how seriously Alan Pardew wants to take the competition too.
  
  Sam Byram is doubtful for Leeds but they have an otherwise fully fit squad.
  
  Tranmere v STOKE
  This should be relatively straightforward for Stoke, but at the same time they'll be wary of a giant-killing at Prenton Park, especially if Mark Hughes makes wholesale changes like he did in the last round against Walsall. He's expected to as well.
  
  Tranmere have plenty of injury concerns and the absence of Jason Koumas (remember him?), Andy Robinson, James Wallace and Jake Kirby won't make it any easier for them.
  
  WEST BROM v ARSENAL
  Both sides are expected to ring the changes for this one with Niklas Bendtner set to make his first appearance for the Gunners in more than 2 years.
  
  Saido Berahino grabbed a hat-trick for the Baggies in the last round and the England U21 striker should get another chance to impress tonight.
  
  Predictions? Any upsets likely?

  Suarez receives the ball to his feet from Enrique inside the box, but rather than get a shot away he passes it on to a crowded-out Moses who loses it. Opportunity missed.
  
  Still goalless in all 5 matches.
  
  Tell a lie, Stephen Ireland has just put Stoke ahead at Tranmere.

  Papiss Cisse has put Newcastle 1-0 up against Leeds.
  
  Still goalless at Old Trafford, but Liverpool have had the best of it lately.

  Its a very interesting game at Old Trafford, fairly even but Liverpool look very dangerous on the counter and possibly look to have something more potent up top. As a Leeds fan I am not pleased to see the Cisse goal but oh well always going to be a tough game

  Here are the half-times:
  
  Birmingham 0-0 Swansea
  Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool
  Newcastle 1-0 Leeds
  Tranmere 0-1 Stoke
  
  Still goalless at the Hawthorns too but West Brom v Arsenal didn't kick off til 20:00, so still 15 mins or so to go there.
  
  United came back in to the match towards the end there, but you'd have to say Liverpool have shaded it so far. Pretty quiet there though, elsewhere too.

  Yeah I would agree Scotty, United still need to find some cutting edge up front as other than Rooney there doesn't look to be anyone else likely to score a goal for them. Suarez looks rusty but to be expected, very quiet night elsewhere so where, hopefully more goals in the 2nd halfs

  ...and Hernandez puts Utd ahead straight after the interval. All too easy as he steers Wayne Rooney's corner home. Can they hold on?
