  Potential shock on at St Andrews, the holders have gone one down, typical Hernandez goal, does nothing for 45 minutes and then gets some part of his body on a cross and scores. brilliant

  We could be on for an upset here. Birmingham have just gone ahead against holders Swansea with a goal from Dan Burn (nice name).
  
  I'm surprised with the amount of changes Swansea have made to be honest, thought they'd have taken it more seriously. But with a Europa League campaign to negotiate too I suppose something has to give.

  Oh well, out of the cup is no hardship, we can concentrate on getting in the playoffs or promoted, tough league at the best of times without an extra distraction of the league cup. Swansea losing is a surprise to me

  Bit of action at Old Trafford with a couple of impressive free kicks. Luis Suarez thunders one against the bar before Rooney forces a smart save from Mignolet moments later.
  
  Still 1-0 to Utd though, with less than 15 mins remaining.

  Germans seem to be the new Frenchmen at Arsenal these days. And here's another one to add to the list, Thomas Eisfeld.
  
  He's just put the Gunners ahead against West Brom. 1-0.
  
  And it's getting embarrassing for Swansea, Tom Adeyemi has just put Birmingham 3-0 up.

  I think although its a bad result in terms of score line it: s a blessing in disguise to be out of the cup n such a long season with more important competitions to play they could without the extra games and help focus

  All over at Old Trafford, and it's a massive win for David Moyes as United sneak it 1-0. That'll ease the pressure.
  
  Big upset at St Andrews as Birmingham dump the holders Swansea out. It wasn't even close!
  
  No more surprises though with Newcastle and Stoke safely through.

  Around 15 minutes left at the Hawthorns where its 1-1 between West Brom and Arsenal.

  Goodcwin for moyes over liverpool. Does more for them mentally as oppose to result wise but probably more important that they get back to winning ways. I hope it continues

  The scoreline and performance were irrelevant, they'd have taken a scrappy 1-0 all day long. Don't know if it'll magically fix everything for Moyes but a defeat would have been catastrophic.
  
  So all good.
  
  Arsenal through as well but they needed a penalty shoot-out to get past West Brom.
