  for me i think XBOX is the best ainec- remember this is a GAMING console, the xbox control is so much better- which i think is kind of proved from the fact you get xbox style controls for PS3, and you can buy adapters to use xbox controls on ps3s, but nothing similar going the other way round.
  
  the online is infintely better than ps3, yes you have to pay for it but i'd rather pay for something that works really well than the crap that sony pass off as the online modes.
  
  the only thing i really see that you can do on ps3 you cant do on xbox is blu ray- but I've got a blu ray player.... which is quieter than the ps3

  See i've never been able to use xbox controllers i find way too clunky and hard to use,
  i don't see where anybody gets that sonys online is unreliable the only problems i've ever had with it is when it's been my internet being crap and nothing to do with sony, and can honestly say i don't find the ps3 to be loud at all.
  Again as has been said on this thread before it basically comes down to personal preference, the main opinion dividing points seem to be the online and the controllers of each.

  Yeah- I suppose my rating of the online is based upon my mate who had one at uni and a few of my mates now have one. The control is always going to be contented. But honestly I guarantee you if you stick to an Xbox style control for a month or something. You'll not be able to go back...
  
  There's nothing else to contest really.... The games are similar I mean you have GT we have forza. Blu-ray is clearly something that makes a bit of a difference- I heard the Xbox 720 is definitely having blu-ray

  there are no firm believable reports about the "720" there's not even any proof that it will be called that, let alone what will be included in it, also i highly doubt it will have blu ray as movies are slowly moving towards digital downloads as isp's start to provide services that can actually support it properly and i also can't really see microsoft including a competitors hardware in their console, besides you can buy a stand alone blu ray player for less than £50 so the fact the ps3 has bluray built in isn't really a point to consider between the two anymore imo.
  
  fan boys aside it's purely personal preference, both have their positives and both have their negatives. the only thing that pisses me off is people who go on about the red ring on xbox's as yes it was a problem but it hasn't been for a long time (except for people who keep their 360's in places where they have no air flow around them etc...) i had a day of release 360 and never once had a problem with it and then a elite and have never had any problems with it either.
  
  as i said both have negatives and both have positives and when you actually way the two consoles up fairly without bias then it is just personal preference for games/controllers that makes the difference

  I think i can safely say the one agreeable thing for both ps3 and xbox fans is that the wii isn`t close to either of them, and can`t touch either ps3 or xbox games in quality or playability, it`s so far behind in every respect it`s pretty ridiculous.

  Yea. True, but the wii isn't competing on that level- you look at it and it's targeting to be the family console thus Mario kart etc are the type of game they release and the fitness type ones

  nintendo only said that when they realised they couldn't compete properly. back when it was first released nintendo was going on and on about how microsoft and sony should be worried etc.. but they quickly changed their tune

  Wow this is a busy thread, gonna keep it short and sweet and just say I'm an Xbox 360 man, basically for all the exclusives, Halo, Gears, Forza etc, anyone playing Battlefield3, what's your best headshot, I managed 674m....

  I didn't know that- I thought it was always due to be released as a gimmic. i think the xbox version ie the kinetic is the dominant force of that type of equipment- because you dont need anything, just you.
  
  interesting thing- i didnt even consider wider applications until i saw the current advert

  I've got both and I'd say 90% of my gaming is done on the Xbox because (imo):
  - Xbox Live is better than PSN
  - More of my friends are on Xbox
  - The controller is better
  - Xbox has better exclusives (GOW and Halo)
  
  The PS3 is a nice piece of kit, but I tend to use that as more of a media centre for watching movies and TV rather than gaming these days.
