I was really looking forward to the film in 2007, and i loved that too.Family Guy is aimed at a different audience to The Simpsons, where Family guy is aimed solely at adults, the simpsons is a program that is for both adults and kids, there are some jokes in the simpsons that kids wouldn`t get because they are aimed at the older fans.
But one day, i was flicking through the channels and i came across.... Family Guy!
Family Guy is ruder, more daring and more importantly, funnier.
After watching Family Guy, the Simpsons just seems like kids tv. I dont think ive watched many episodes of the Simpsons since finding Family Guy. I dont know if the quality has decreased, its just that i find Family Guy to be much funnier.

Anyone else a fan?

Content to differ with you there :). I just think the good quality of a tv show is finite - there are only so-many stories you can concieve that are of a high standard and fit the genral framework of the seires and its main characters.
Some time after the simpsons intially became successful, it spawned a whole load of animated series that pushed the proverbial envelope: Beavis & Butthead, South Park, King of the Hill, Family Goy etc etc. By the late 90s, the simpsons looked tame by comparison. Thus, the storylines became more and more "wacky" and homer became more and more stupider.
If i could pin-point the story where i stopped laughing-out-loud, it would have to be the "wacky" story where homer joins the navy. It was so ludicrous and contrived - it was like a typical family guy episode. The ironic thing being, it was BEFORE family guy. Groening attempted to answer the critics by wrting a story that delt with the simpsons' decline. Check out the "wacky" episode where homer gets a job voicing the character of "poochie" in itchy & scratchy. I've watch the simpsons on and off since then, but really, it barely raises a smile these day.
