I had forgot Konta was so high up the rankings now, she did very well to be able to say she was the last Brit standing.
The on-court presenter asked her if she was sure she wasn't still an Aussie, after playing so well. That must feel a bit awkward for her in front of her old home crowd. Our gain. -

Roger Federer beats Stan Wawrinka to reach Australian Open final
Roger Federer beat fellow Swiss Stan Wawrinka 7-5 6-3 1-6 4-6 6-3 to reach the Australian Open final and stay on course for an 18th Grand Slam title.
The 35-year-old will face Rafael Nadal on Sunday if the Spaniard beats Grigor Dimitrov in Friday's semi-final.
The Swiss, returning from a six-month lay-off to rest his left knee, last won a major at Wimbledon in 2012.
He is the oldest man to reach a Grand Slam final since Ken Rosewall did so at the 1974 US Open at the age of 39.
Federer will now seek a fifth Australian Open title, and his first in Melbourne since 2010, when he plays in his 28th Grand Slam final and 100th Australian Open match on Sunday. -

Australian Open 2017: Venus & Serena Williams to meet in ninth Grand Slam final
Venus and Serena Williams will meet in a Grand Slam final for the ninth time after the American sisters came through their semi-finals in Melbourne.
Thirteenth seed Venus, 36, beat fellow American Coco Vandeweghe 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 6-3 to reach her first major final since 2009.
World number two Serena, 35, saw off unseeded Croat Mirjana Lucic-Baroni 6-2 6-1 in the second semi-final.
Serena is attempting to win an Open-era record 23rd Grand Slam singles title
It would also be a seventh Australian Open victory for the younger Williams sister, while Venus hopes to win an eighth major title, first in Melbourne and first since Wimbledon in 2008.
Saturday will be their first Grand Slam final against each other since Wimbledon 2009 when Serena won in straight sets. -

Still think all semi finals should start at the same time ,it gives the latter semi a disadvantage,if it is because of the courts just toss a coin for the best one,it doesn't matter in football does it. -

My God after 4hours 56minutes yes that long wow,Nadal finally beats Dimitrov 6-3 5-7 7-6 6-7 6-4,see what I mean both semi finals starting same time it gives both finalists same time to recover,now Nadal has only a day or so till he meets Federer in the final,while Federer has had an extra day,Nadal played excellent tennis today just like days of old,just hope the final is on par with this match.
For the first time since Wimbledon finals weekend in 2008 we will see Venus v Serena and Federer v Nadal in Grand Slam finals.
It's amazing to see what's happened.

Australian Open 2017: Serena Williams beats Venus Williams to set Grand Slam record
Serena Williams beat sister Venus in straight sets to win her seventh Australian Open and an Open-era record 23rd Grand Slam singles title.
Serena, 35, won 6-4 6-4 to pass Steffi Graf in the all-time list of major winners since the Grand Slams accepted professional players in 1968.
The American regains the number one ranking from German Angelique Kerber.
Australia's Margaret Court, with 24, is the only player still ahead of Serena in terms of Grand Slam singles titles.
Congratulations to her but not surprised really,im not being funny but the only reason she beat Steffis record is in Steffis day all the girls were nearly all the same physique but now days all the girls are nowhere near the physique and got the power of Serena,ok she loses occasionally,the record will never surpassed now,the others will just have to have a tournament just for them -

If the only reason Serena wins so much is her physique, then you would have talent scouts picking girls who have a similar type body to be the next generation of player, but I don't see any evidence of that happening, she has been around for years so there should be some copy-cats emerging on to the world stage by now. So it seems Serena wins despite her difference. Trading muscle for speed and agility, works for her but isn't the magic bullet. She's just a unique player, shaped as much by her background as her physicality, other players can cry it's unfair to make themselves feel better that they aren't good enough to beat her, but she's the one they all aspire to beat so it has increased the overall level of the women's game. -

Don't agree with that one little bit,its like putting Chelsea against Millwall every week,you,re going to get your occassinal losses but its still an unfair advantage to Serena,how can scouts pick girls the same body shape when they cant even play tennis,she as an unfair advantage and the Tennis authorities just cant see it,and the overall level of tennis in the Womens game as decreased ever since Maria got caught cheating,but the public loved her,the public don't love Serena they love her getting beaten when that occurs,throwing your racket down in disgust because of the previous shot,how put on was that
she is a good player but not a great in the class of Martina,Steffi,Hingis,Chrissy,ok she has broke the record of Steffi doent mean she is a true great just look at Celtic ;)
