I think they are fantastic games and if you want to see what they are like without the skyrim price tag, get Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Even though Oblivion was released in 2006 it is still one of my favourite games today, one of the best RPG's ever made in my opinion.Oh right, probably not a good idea for me to buy it then if it`s the fifth in a series, i wouldn`t have a clue what was going on,

Although they are all part of a series and the lore of the world and its races is constantly there and being added too. The main story of each individual game is separate, so you don't miss anything from the core gameplay but not playing a previous one if you know what I mean.I get what you mean, i remember seeing clips of oblivion and it looked interesting, i may buy it when i get chance just that i have to be alot more selective with what games i buy lately i have less money and games are expensive.

i dont' know the specific details of skyrim, but if it's anything like oblivion was, like if it's made in the same spirit/style and you're into some serious RPG action, then i think you'll get a lot of play value out of oblivion, bethesda tend to make loooong games where you can really do a LOT of different stuff
