A good result but the Bundesliga is nowhere near the league it was ten years ago. Laughing that the trophy shy Klopp is being lined up to manage all of Europe's elite despite having a strong allergic reaction to silverware. -

Despite his goalscoring exploits having become slightly less heroic than they were during his debut season for the scousers, the Egyptian forward has still managed to reach his half-century in a more than tidy 69 appearances.
His 2 goals from 13 games whilst in and out of the Chelsea team a few years back do slightly muddy the statistical waters, but whichever way you slice it he's up there with the likes of Alan Shearer, Andy Cole and Ruud van Nistelrooy in the good-at-goals stakes.

At what point does eulogising about The Atmosphere, on another of those Famous European Nights at Anfield, start to detract from the fact that they're actually an incredible side?
Was it discussed in the 70s and 80s when they were hoovering up European Cups? Or is it something supporters have latched on to in more recent times out of mild desperation?
Not saying it's irrelevant, but it surely becomes less of a factor when you've got the likes of Alisson, van Dijk and Mane out on the pitch instead of Mignolet, Lovren and Markovic?
Anyway, fucking hell.

The acid tests are still to come. And their place in history. If City win the league and you lose the CL final it will be another close but no cigar moment. And I doubt it will happen again soon. This is the best chance Liverpool have had in almost three decades. -

They ought to be winning the Champions League.
But if 97 points only turns out to be good enough for 2nd place then really what can you fucking do?
Either way, this seems a lot more sustainable than when they came close under Benitez and Rodgers. The key players are all on decent contracts and there's no sign of an exodus. They'll be up there again next year.
