  I think Liverpool played well and maybe unsettled Real with the fact that they didn't recognise the team. I found it a bit rich that a few people had been saying that they should drop Ballotelli and gerrard for the last couple of weeks, then they do and the manager gets a lot of stick. Despite that they still started with a couple of their £20M players signed over the summer, Can in the midfield and an expensive full-back. Having said all that though, they started with a guy who was Sunderland's best player up front. No harm to Borini. He must have never thought he would be starting against Real Madrid in the Champions league this season once Liverpool had accepted the bid from Sunderland over the summer.

  What is the general feeling towards Rodgers from Liverpool fans? I get the feeling that the unexpected heights of last season are making things harder for him this season. He would have maybe had more grace if they had quietly finished in fourth, rather than coming so close and losing out. There was an article in one of the papers at the weekend pointing out that he does not really have a great track record with transfers. This summer's intake is still to really be judged, but no one has really set the world alight. For every Daniel Sturridge there appears to be one Aspas and Markovic.

  We have been rubbish this season. But when you lose for one reason or another,both your top scorers then anyone is gonna be in trouble!! Hopefully when sturridge returns we will be back to winning ways. All the signings need time to settle in.Look at Henry first season he was crap at Arsenal and next he's one of greatest strikers to have laced up their boots! Lets stop shipping the new boys out in first season and give them time to develop. Keep sending them to lower ranked clubs with lesser players and they will never improve

  Yeah too soon to be writing them off, things should improve once Sturridge is back and (if) the new signings adapt.
  
  Not exactly miles off 4th as it is either. That's got to be the minimum for this season though, any lower and questions will need to be asked.
