  Second round of games from Group 1 and it's New Zealand vs England, both teams need the win as both lost their first matches..
  NZ wins the toss and wants to bat first, and there is a sure run out chance in the first over, but England throw it to the wrong end!!! Finn takes the first wicket of Guptill trapped lbw at 7 for 1. Finn strikes again dismissing danger man Brendon McCullum, looking good for England so far. NZ limited to 39 for 2 at end of the powerplay and 5 balls later it's 42 for 3 with Nicol gone. Briggs gets Williamson for the addition of another 25 runs to the score, then Taylor and Franklin start to make a stand but both fall with Franklin making his 50. It's 148 for 6.

  For a change England's first over goes by without a wicket falling, Hales decides to whack three 4s in the second over. In the 4th over Kieswetter plays all around a ball and Vettori hits the stumps, 21 for 1. Kieswetter is probably thinking he should have joined the chess club instead at the moment... Enter Luke Wright, what can he do today. Powerplay is over and England only manage 37 for 1, only keeping par with NZ at the moment. Hales is bowled for 22 in the 7th, 38 for 2. What can Wright and Morgan produce, well they can produce a pretty fine partnership, Wright is in excellent form and in the 15th wallops a huge 97 metre 6 to get his half century. Morgan is caught but his 30 off 31 has helped put England in a safer position, and when Wright is also caught his 76 off only 43 balls has put England only 7 runs from victory (and also claims MoM). 149 for 4 of 18.5 overs, that's a bit better.

  next up in group 1 is Sri Lanka vs West Indies.
  West Indies win the toss and they decide to bat also, didn't work out too good for NZ last match!!
  A slow start by the Windies, and in the 5th over Charles is out, Mendis fooling him with a ball out the back of the hand. 16 for 1. Next over and Gayle is out for only 2, nicking a wide ball and caught behind, 16 for 2. 20 for 2 at end of the powerplay is the lowest in this T20 tournament. Samuels and Bravo begin to pick up the pace, but Bravo is out in the 15th scoring 40, 81 for 3. Pollard follows quickly and 90 for 4. Samuels hits the 150th 6 of the tournament in the 18th over and also the longest so far at 102 metres, he makes 50 but is caught, out with 4 balls to go. 129 for 5. That's well below par, and also their lowest ICC T20 score.

  Mahela and Dilshan get going again but Rampaul gets Dilshan caught by Ramdin in the 3rd over, it's 22 for 1. Then it's a lesson on how to bat on this pitch as Mahela and Sangakkara rack up the runs. Mahela gets his 50 and ends up with 65 from 49, the Sri Lankans beating West Indies by 9 wickets, 130 for 1 in only 15.2 overs...
  The last matches of this group will be all to play for as it is still possible for all teams to qualify given the right outcomes..

  group 2s turn again with Australia taking on South Africa, the Aussies win the toss and decide to field in this 100th match of world T20s.
  Doherty given the honour to bowl the first over and third ball he takes the leg stump of Levi for a duck and 0 for 1, nice start. Kallis takes a ball in the groin in the 2nd over, now he's angry, he whacks the next ball for a 4..but then he's out edging it to the keeper and Doherty strikes again, 8 for 2. A run out chance in the 4th over, but Hussey fires it well wide of the stumps. Amla and Duminy steady the ship a bit, but spoken too soon as Amla falls for 17 in the 6th, Watson and keeper combining this time. End of the powerplay and they have 34 for 3. Dohertys back and first ball he gets Duminy stumped, the ball going through his legs, he's on fire today, 64 for 4. Watson gets de Villiers caught in the 15th and at 86 for 5, South Africa look in a spot of bother. Behardien and Peterson manage to get 30 a piece, with Peterson playing some nice reverse and scoop shots, and it ends with SA posting 146 for 5.

  Steyn has the ball and a good first over, only 2 runs from it. A slow start from the Aussies and Warner is bowled by Morkel in the 4th for only 10 runs on the board. Then Watson and Hussey start to rev it up, Watson is having a really good game, first with the ball, now with the bat and when he finally falls. he's made 70 from 47 balls and it's 109 for 2, well ahead of the needed run rate. Hussey and White finish it off in only 17.4 overs , 147 for 2 and that means that Australia should qualifiy through to the semis.

  second game at Colombo see India take on Pakistan, this should be a real frenetic match as neither side will want to lose to the other...
  Pakistan wins the toss and decide to bat.
  Zaheer is first up to bowl and it's not a good start from him, a couple of wides and a dropped catch!! means 13 off it. Second over, an edged 4 then Nazir falls lbw to Pathan, it's all happening and we've had 8 balls. Afridi comes in next, moved up the order, a quick 14 and he goes in the 15th, 35 for 2. 42 for 2 at the end of the powerplay, then Jamshed goes caught by Dhoni. Another edge to Dhoni in the 9th by Kamran Akmal leaves the score at 49 for 4, India have pulled the game back. Hafeez plays the ball onto his stumps in the 10th, 59 for 5 and looking bleak for Pakistan. Shoaib Malik and Umar Ukmal make a stand, but Malik goes in the 16th and Akmal in the 18th both caught. Arafat follows quickly in a run out witha good direct hit to the stumps and at 115 for 8, its all gone pete tong. Umar Gul smashes another 12 but is then out and so is Ajmal, 128 all out with 2 balls remaining. India's spin has done them in.

  India's turn and wow, Gambhir c&b Hasan second ball 1 for 1. 9 more and Pakistan will be very happy. But Sehwag and Kohli have other ideas, they're not having the problems Pakistan did when batting. Kohli survives a dropped catch in the 10th and that over ends with score at 70 for 1, less than a run a ball needed now. Umar Gul catches Sehwag, 75 for 2 in the 11th, but that's it, Kohli gets his 50 in the 11th and ends up with 78 from 61 and Yuvraj contributing 19 to win the match by 8 wickets ,with 18 balls left, 129 for 2 off 17.0.

  last games in group 1 today and the West Indies take on New Zealand, easy one this, whoever loses is on their way home, a win by Windies means next game all to play for while if NZ win then Sri Lanka already qualifies for the semis...
  NZ win the toss and choose to field.
  Not a good start as the first ball is a no ball, but better in the 2nd over as Charles goes c&b Bracewell. 3rd over and Gayle hits his first 6 straight down the ground, I doubt it'll be the last either, 30 for 1 at the end of the over. Andre Russell clips a ball off his legs and is out caught 36 for 2. Gayle and Samuels continue the onslaught, Gayle hitting his 300th 6 in T20s, 60 for 2 at the end of the powerplay. But 2 balls later Gayle is caught behind having made 30 from 14. New Zealand are starting to get back into the match, some better bowling and after 10 overs 86 for 3. One more run and Samuels is caught on the boundary and 2 overs later Darren Bravo is bowled, 2 more balls and Ramdin pushes at a ball and is caught, it's now 102 for 6, the Windies are starting to collapse. 20 more runs later and Sammy is out at the end of the 17th, then Pollard skys one in the 18th and is caught. The next 2 wickets fall cheaply and the West Indies are all out for 139 with 3 balls left to go...

  Reserved start by New Zealand, they only need 7 an over. They lose their first wicket in the 3rd at 8 for 1, Nicol trapped lbw by Rampaul. 34 for 1 at the end of the powerplay, way behind the Windies score but all they need is steady scoring. In the 8th Brendon McCullum comes down the track, misses and is clean bowled, 41 for 2, and at the end of the 9th, the 3rd wicket goes down, Guptill caught.. A nice catch by Gayle in the slips gets rid of Franklin, score at 85 for 4. A 30 stand by Taylor and Oram but then Oram is trapped lbw in the 17th and in the 19th Nathan McCullum is caught, 125 for 6. The equation now is they need 15 from 9, now 9 from 3, Taylor whacks a 6, 3 from 2, 2 from 1, oh a run out and the scores are tied (139 for 7), another super over for New Zealand...

  Samuels takes the ball and Taylor gets 14, overall 17 from the over..
  Southee bowls to Gayle and the first ball is a no ball and a 6... a couple of runs, a wide , then another 6 and that's it a win for West Indies.
  That means England must beat Sri Lanka in the next match if they want to qualify through.

  Crunch time for England as they take on Sri Lanka, only a win will do.
  England wins the toss and decide to bowl.
  Another good steady start from Jayawardene and Dilshan, until Finn gets Dilshan lbw, 35 for 1. Powerplay over and it's 44 for 1. Flash forward to the 11th over and Jayawardene is nicely caught, 74 for 2, then disaster as Swann gets Sangakkara next ball, he's now on a hat-trick, but no. Mathews and Mendis then play steadily, England needs to break this partnership and finally do in the 16th Mendis out, 126 for 4, then another next ball wicket, Mathews bowled by Broad, can he now get a hat-trick, another no. Finn bowls nicely in the 17th only giving away 3 runs, but in the 18th Dernbach goes for 16. In the 19th Thirimanne is bowled by a slower ball from Broad 162 for 6. Sri Lanka makes 169 for 6 with Perera hitting 26 from 16 at the end.

  Simples, 8.5 an over is needed.
  Wright and Hales open this time, not a bad start 15 made from 2 overs. 3rd over and it's Malinga time, with the third ball of the over he gets Wright out, caught, then it's 2 runs, next ball he gets Bairstow out caught, and last ball of the over Hales lbw, 3 wickets for 3 runs, and England are in trouble. The replay shows that the lbw would have missed but too late, already given.
  Patel and Morgan bring some sense back to the innings. Up to the 11th again and Morgan mistimes a reverse sweep and is caught leg before by the youngster Dananjaya, 73 for 4. Ravi Bopara's nightmare continues, out for 1, 76 for 5. England need a miracle now. Can Buttler and Patel get the job done? In the 14th, Buttler breaks his bat, the new one isn't any good as with the next ball he's out, another Malinga wicket. Patels 50 comes up, the high point of England's day. Broad is out, caught in the 15th before Patels whacks a 6 to bring the 100 up. Patel finally gets bowled to a full toss from Malinga in the 19th scoring 67 from 48, Englands total now 144 for 8. England need 24 from the last over, Swann goes second ball and that's it 150 for 9... Time to start the car as bumble likes saying.

  England are a bunch of over rated average cricketers. Their middle order lacks ballast without Kevin Pietersen. They consistently did not get runs, bring back KP. Mind you I do not know how much of a difference even his brilliance would have made, with the average talent surrounding him.

  They have certainly been shown up this tournament. Losing early wickets, have they got the right people to open? and for the life of me, why they picked Ravi Bopara who's having the worst time ever is completely beyond logic. Luke Wright is the only positve coming out of this for me.

  last matches of the super eights and it's still up in the air, the Aussies must be favourite to qualify though. Pakistan must win to have any chance of qualifying..
  first up and it is Australia vs Pakistan, Aussies win the toss and decide to bowl.
  Doherty takes the first over again, no wicket but only 5 runs from it. Starc bowls, first ball, Hafeez gone lbw, and two balls later slip drops a catch! Watson now and five dot balls then a boundary, 12 for 1 after 3. Watson bowling the 6th over and Nazir chips a full toss to mid off, 29 for 2. Powerplay ends at 31 for 2, Pakistans lowest at this world T20. The 10th over sees the 50 come up and ends at 60 for 2, Jamshed and Akmal now starting to get the score going. First 6 of the innings comes in the 11th off a slow bouncer. Jamshed reaches his 50 in the 14th and the 100 up also in the same over. End of the 15th and Jamshed out caught on the boundary 108 for 3, then Kamran Akmal out next ball. Can Umar Akmal and Razzaq now get runs. In the 19th Razzaq paddles up a short ball and 136 for 5. Afridi goes in the last over, his leg stump demolished and Pakistan end up with 149 for 6.

  So if the Aussies score 112 they qualify, if they win in less than 17 overs then Pakistan cannot qaulify at all due to run rates.
  A relatively slow start by Warner and Watson, Warner survives an lbw appeal in the 3rd, lucky boy as the replay shows it was out... Hasan traps Watson lbw in the 4th, 15 for 1, and in the 5th Hafeez gets Warner lbw 19 for 2, Pakistan are fighting really hard. Hussey and Bailey play steady but the score isn't ticking over that well, good bowling by Pakistan, after 9 overs it is only 43 for 2. In the 10th Ajmal traps Baliey lbw, 44 for 3. In the 12th White skys one and is caught and Maxwell goes in the 14th caught at gully, 65 for 5, the Aussies might not even make the 112 they need!!! But Hussey keeps going and at the end of the 18th they have 105 for 5, they must make it now. Ajmal bowls Wade in the 19th, then Cummins out very next ball, 110 for 7.
  Hussey gets his 50 with a 4 and ensures they breach the 112 target, it ends on 117 for 7, Pakistan win by 32 runs, but the Aussies are through.
  South Africa cannot now qualify but the Pakistanis will hope they beat India to help their cause, let's see..

  India vs South Africa, put simply India must win to progress.. All the Pakistan supporters are now suddenly South African supporters.
  South Africa win the toss and bowl.
  India gets off to a good start when in the 4th over Morkel hits Gambhirs middle stump, 23 for 1. Next over and Kohli the danger man is caught behind off Kallis for only 2, 30 for 2. In the 6th over Sehwag whacks a 6 then is bowled by Peterson for 17, 36 for 3 at the end of the powerplay. Yuvraj is in and hits a couple of 6s, but in the 10th he is clean bowled off a full length delivery, 68 for 4. du Plessis bowls his only over in the 11th for only 3 runs and in the 12th there is a dropped catch by Botha, coming out of his hands as he hit the ground.
  In the 16th Rohit Sharma misses a sweep shot and is caught lbw, 112 for 5. Raina and Dhoni now at the wicket. Another drop in the 18th and Raina survives, 129 for 5 at the end of this over. 14 runs comes from the 19th, and Kallis has the last... 1,1,1,4,1,1 & run out..India makes 152 for 6.

  So if India now restrict SA to 121 or less they will qualify instead of Pakistan, if SA make 122 then Pakistan progress...
  Second ball and Amla edges it and is caught 0 for 1. 4th over and Kallis wafts at one and is caught for only 6, and 16 for 2, the Indians pretty happy at the moment. De Villiers and du Plessis add some runs, 46 for 2 at the end of the powerplay. Next ball and de Villiers plays on and out to Yuvraj, 46 for 3. Ten overs down and at 73 for 3 it looks bad for the Indians. A couple of whacks out to cow corner in the 12th by du Plessis and Dhoni is not looking best pleased. Du Plessis hits down to long off and is caught in the 13th, 95 for 4, is this a glimmer of hope for India. Duminy is out caught by Gambhir in the 15th. Next over and they have Peterson caught at square reverse hitting, but wait, Ashwin has overstepped and it's a no ball, joy turns to huge disappointment.
  South Africa reach 122 with 20 balls to go, there is a huge cheer from the Pakistanis in the crowd.. In the 18th 2 more wickets fall, Behardien and Peterson, India needed this a bit earlier. South Africa are still after the win, but the eighth wicket falls in the 19th over, Botha gone, 138 for 8. 14 runs now needed from the last over and Balaji to bowl.. a 6, then a wicket, a dot ball, then another 6, 2 needed now from 2, another wicket and India win the game by one run but that is little consolation.
