so to the final, or yet another final for Sri Lanka as they take on the West Indies.
West Indies win the toss and decide to bat, they have an unchanged side from the semis, where Sri Lanka swops Herath for the young Dananjaya.
Sri Lanka easily beat West Indies in the super eight stage, running down their 129 in 16 overs, but that Windies team didn't have a good day unlike where they played the Aussies. Depends which one turns up today...
Mathews has the first over, fifth ball and Charles tops a pull shot and is easily caught, 0 for 1, the Sri Lankan crowd goes wild. Kulasekara bowls the 2nd over, only one wide scored, 1 for 1. Three more good bowling overs from Mathews, Kula and Malinga mean West Indies 12 for 1 after 5. Gayle doesn't look too happy out there, this is usually when he starts to hit them everywhere. Ajantha Mendis bowls the 6th and gets Gayle plum lbw, 14 for 2 at the end of the powerplay, and the Windies aren't playing well at all, plus Sri Lanka are bowling well.
Four more superb overs for Sri Lanka puts the West Indies at 32 for 2 after 10, and with Mathews bowling his 4 for figures of 1 wicket for 11 runs.
Samuels and Bravo then start to score a bit more freely, the first 6 comes in the 12th off Dananjaya, and in the 13th Malinga goes for 21, with three more 6's. Ajantha gets Bravo caught lbw in the 14th, 73 for 3. Bravo's unlucky though as replay shows it came off the bat first. Pollard strides in and back out again after scoring just 2, in the 16th. Next ball and Ajantha gets another wicket, Russell out lbw, missing a sweep shot, 89 for 5 at end of 15th. The West Indies in the dug out are not looking particularly happy at all. Malinga again in the 17th and Samuels wallops him again, smashing the longest 6 of the tournament at 108 metres, another 19 runs off Malinga, and bringing the 100 up. Dananjaya gets Samuels out first ball of the 18th, but his 78 from 56 balls has given the Windies a fighting chance, 108 for 6.
It's now up to the captain Sammy to try to post a decent total that they can defend. Ten runs taken from the 19th and Malinga finishes with 4 overs, 0 wickets for 54 runs... Fifteen from the last and the West Indies end up with 137 for 6, a hell of a lot better than it was looking a while ago.

So 6.9 an over needed for Sri Lanka, they must be thinking they can finally win a final, having lost the last three.
Badree bowls the first for 6 runs. Next up Rampaul, and he gets Dilshan out for a duck, removing his off stump, the West Indians are overjoyed and the Sri Lankan crowd look aghast. A few more cagey over from Samuels, Badree and Rampaul and after 6, the score is 30 for 1. Not as easy going as the Sri Lankans hoped. Sangakkara and Jayawardene ticking along when in the 10th Badree gets Sangakkara out, Pollard taking a good low catch, 48 for 2. 11th over and Sammy comes on, 4th ball and he bowls Mathews for 1, 51 for 3. A bit of rain comes down and both teams have a look at their DL sheets, Sri Lanka are way behind DL par score at the moment.
Narine bowls the 13th over and gets Mahela out first ball, who tried a reverse sweep and got it horribly wrong. Another wicket goes, a run out 2 balls later and it's all changed around, the Sri Lankans are looking glum and the West Indians quite happy, 64 for 5 at the end of the 13th.
Samuels bowls the 14th and first ball another run out, brilliantly done by the keeper Ramdin, Perera gone. The ground has suddenly gone very quiet, Sri Lanka need 11 runs an over now. Next over and Sammy takes another wicket, a slower ball caught at long off, 69 for 7 and Mahela is deep in thought in the dug out, he must be thinking, not again...
Kulasekara hits Rampaul for 22 in the 16th, is there hope still for Sri Lanka? The answer is no as Kula is out to Narine next over, caught by Badree, 96 for 8. Sri Lanka's 100 comes up in the 18th, followed next ball by another wicket, Samuels gets Ajantha out, 100 for 9. Malinga and Dananjaya at the crease, they need 37 runs from 2 overs. But Narine only needs 4 balls in the 19th and Malinga is out caught and that's that, 101 all out, the West Indies win by 36 runs in 18.4 overs.
Wow, what a game, the West Indians are dancing and celebrating in true caribbean style, and I'm happy too as I had Windies to win :)
