  Dont you dare drop any spoilers on upcoming episodes, thisscotsman, dont you dare haha. Its my fault i cant be arsed to stream it so spoil away lol. The time period thing is a mystery. The architecture and the technology are in contradiction. Doesnt help that the makers of the show seem either unwilling or unable to divuldge what time period the show is set in.

  My only problem with the makers is that Bruno Heller also works on The Mentalist and I don't want that to suffer because he is off messing with the Batman mythology.
  
  You have to assume the date thing is intentional. It's probably going to be some big thing and that's why they aren't saying.

  My personal theory with regard to the time period in which Gotham is set is that it is either set in the 1980's or early 1990's so that when batman arises it will be in the present day. With the universe being one which is slightly more technologically advanced when compared to the real world.
  
  The other idea is that the time period is present day and that batman is therefore set in the future.
  
  What are your thoughts on how long the series will run and do you think it is possible that over time the emphasis might move more onto Bruce becoming batman and less of a focus on Gordan?

  It's never going to be about Batman.
  DC are so set on keeping their TV and film properties separated that they won't have a Batman on both.
  
  So it's why Arrow and Flash will get different actors if they appear in Dawn of Justice - no matter how stupid that logic is.

  To be honest thisscotsman i gave up on the last series of The Mentalist. I enjoyed all prevoius series but once the whole Red John thing was dealt with, i dont know, just couldnt warm to the most recent series. I honestly dont know how much staying power Gotham has as a show. I wonder at what point will the viewing public start getting bored. Im still trying to warm to Grant Gustins Flash but it would be a crying shame if Stephen Amell wasnt bought onboard to play Arrow in Dawn of Justice or any other future projects. It is incredibly unlikely the powers that be will use him though, no doubt it will be a couple of douchebags (im scared shitless that the powers that be will ask Ryan Reynolds to reprise his role as Green Lantern).

  Would you recommend flash or arrow over Gotham?
  I have not watched either of the shows yet

  Yeah once the Red John thing was dealt with it's gone... different. Not sold on the whole FBI thing, but it's finally gone down with the whole Jane/Lisbon thing so that's something.
  
  Not really a massive spoiler cause we all knew it was coming, but that whole Gordon in Arkham thing didn't stick for long.
  
  DC/Warner don't do crossing the streams. And there is no way Ryan Reynolds can come back as GL (I've never seen the film) but I can't imagine that Deadpool will be worse unless Fox really fuck it all up.

  Hey Blas123456. I would recommend checking all three shows out. They really do all bring something different to the table. If i had to pick one show from the three, for me it would be Arrow, although Arrow does have the distinct advantage of being more established (it has already got 2 and a half seasons under its belt). Check out all three if you can. No Ryan as Green Lantern, thats a bloody relief. Believe me, thisscotsman, you are missing nothing by not seeing it. Its pretty bad. Deadpool may be ok just so long as the powers that be dont make it a low certificate to maximise profits. What do you reckon, a 15 atleast.

  I can easily deal with a PG rated Deadpool (and I love Deadpool).
  If the film plays with the fourth wall then a lack of blood and gore is fine because it just needs Deadpool to make reference to it and mock it.
  
  New Gotham aired in the US this week and it's meh.
  One thing comes to a head but the Gordon stuff isn't great in my opinion.
