  Trawling through the new releases the other day, realising that there seems  to be a heck of a lot of straight to dvd, genrally tat out this time of year, i clocked the synopsis of 'The night watchmen' and despite there being only a scarce number of reviews available..decided to take a chance on it. Have gotta say, as horrors go, its not gonna be to everyones taste but there are, at the very least,several elements to enjoy here. The film basically tells of a vampiric outbreak, triggered by infected clowns that, for the bul of the film centres on the employees of a speciaffic office block and in particualr, their securityy guys trying to survive. Starring a host of unknowns, this is basically trying to be a homage to simaler films from the1980's..heck, itt even has a 1980's soundtrack throughout that typically kicks in when it all kicks off. For me this is only a one watch but thats not to say that i wasnt entertained..especially by some of the comedy scenes (look and listen for what happens to any dead vamps..never gets old). You could do a heck of a lot worse.

  i saw the trailer and it looks really good from what i saw, looks like some sort of raw comedy horror movie, some parts looked a little cheesy but apart from that i cant wait to see this

  Watched a few random horror films on Netflix lately, so a quick rundown of the ones i would recommend:
  
  Extinction
  
  A post apocalyptic horror, sort of a spin on the zombie theme and is quite interesting. Starring Jack from Lost and a few others i couldn't recognise from anything else. Fairly simple story but well worth a watch.
  
  An American Haunting
  
  Now there's probably about a dozen with variations of that particular title, so to narrow it down i'll say the one with Donald Sutherland in. All i'll say about that is what the haunting title suggests and that it's set in 18-something or other. Got a few bits you wouldn't guess in there.
  
  Holidays
  
  I think someone may have mentioned they watched this before, after i originally put the trailer up. But i can't remember who. But anyway, i think it was 5 segments based around different holidays. The easter one especially stands out if not just for them actually managing to make a decent horror story around an Easter setting. Varying quality but overall a decent film.

  Will have to agree to diagree on 'Holidays', Jesslloydfan. Whilst i have seen far worse anthology horror's (and horrors in general), it really didnt do anything for me. Granted, a great concept..just poorly executed if you ask me. Well, it had to happen sooner or later, finally, in my opinion have come across one of the first great horrors of 2017. Whilst i had never heard of the film and rreviews were scarse, decided to take a chance on 'The Devils Candy'..and am i ever glad i did. Directed by Sean Byrne (the guy behind the fantastic' The Loved Ones' this almost defies description other than t say this is one dark horror with heavy nods towards Satan and his ability to influence those on earth. The film basically tells of a painter who moves into a seemingly perfect new house..that is until he becomes influenced by satanic forces. To giive any moreaway would run the risk of spoiling this. Fantasti performances by all the leads, thiis is by no mens a happy go lucky film..this is very dark in context and, whilst not overly gory, the level of menace that builds through the film makes it a pretty compelling watch. Whilst the Metal music references and occassional tunes associated with etal may not be to everyones taste, those who appreciate the musical style will lap this up all the more. Heck, even the cllosing credits immediatly after the film are drenched in devil worship / satanic references. Hioghly recommend giving this one a look.

  i think i saw this trailer before because i recognise that thing about him not remembering him painting that picture, looks like a pretty good horroh movie though will check it out for sure

  This may not be constructive but I can't really lend too much time to reviewing M. Knight Shalamafarmer's Split. So here it is, it was shit.

  Wow, that was straight to the point, FantasticMr. Personally, i enjoyed it, mainly for Mcavoys performance though as the other characters were a little throwaway for me. Hope you do get around to watching 'The Devil's Candy', Dony. Whilst the music may not be to everyones tastes, once it starts it rarely lasts long (being a fan of metal though meant i ate this up all the more).

  I'm 99% sure they already showed why Annabelle was evil in this first Annabelle, and it was different to this. But that aside it looks like a pretty good horror film and the director of 'Lights out' gives me a bit of hope it could be good.

  I will take your Annabelle spin off and raise ya, Jesslloydfan. Read earlier today that another relativly ecent iconic horror character is getting their own lspin off / by the sounds of it, origin movie..its only that creepy as fuck nun from 'The Conjuring 2'. Definatly gonna see that at the cinema (and probab ly evacuate the contents of my bowels at the same time..parp lol).
