  Just came across this, a trailer for a new Judge Dredd movie remake/reboot (whatever they call them now same thing really)
  I`m sure there are some people who remember the old one starring Sylvester Stallone which was to be honest dreadfull ( just couldn`t resist lol ) but this one actually looks pretty good

  You beat me to it, I've just watched this and I will be going to the cinema to watch the film.

  Looks pretty good, although I'm sure it will be ruined by the director trying to pry as many 3D shots into the film as possible.
  
  And how dare you say the Stallone Dredd was awful - it had the gorgeous Diane Lane in it

  Yeah one actress no matter how attractive you think she is doesn`t make a film good, if that was how it worked then Southland Tales was a good film purely because it had Sarah Michelle Gellar in it, sadly takes more than one fit actress to make a basically bad film good lol.
  Anyway, have to say wasn`t really expecting much from a new Judge Dredd film, but if the trailer is anything to go by should be pretty good.

  I'm looking forward to this one although the only issue for me is that it looks like at some point they get locked in a building and are under attack. So Judge Dredd in The Raid then? The Raid was amazing for it's flawless martial arts and brutality. Just a shame that the themes are so similar as I'm sure this one will be more guns and explosions not bare knuckle brawls.

  I'm loving the La Roux remix of in for the kill they used for the start of the trailer too, way better than the chart version.
  
  As for how it will turn out? I like the lead actor Carl Urban (Bones in the last Star Trek film, Also did a good job in Priest, and has done a few other good films too) the only thing likely to take this film down is if the helmet is removed, Dredd never takes it off.

  I think that was probably more unfortunate timing than anything else, since Dredd being a relatively big budget hollywood film would have been in development for a while, wheras The Raid was a low budget indonesian film so was probably shot over a much shorter time period (Dredd was likely filming before the Raid was) just unlucky timing.

  i will most likely go see this in the cinema at some point, although i am a little worried about the 3D part of it considering it's actually called Dredd 3D makes me think it may well do the crap thing of putting in shots just because it's 3D rather than just having the 3D add to shots that would be in the film if it were just 2D
  
  as for the stallone Dredd i'm gonna admit i actually did like it, i think the reason many didn't like it was because Dredd took off his helmet among other things, but that didn't really bother me because Dredd is not a character i knew tons about, i mean i knew more than most people just finding out about dredd ( i knew about mean machine and his family, the law giver, etc... etc...) but i wasn't a big dredd fan or anything, although i will say i don't think it was great or even close to being as good as the more recent comic films but i didn't think it was the crap heap many seemed to think it was.
  
  i think one thing it did get right though was stallone as dredd, in the very few comics i've seen of dredd he is a bit of a beast and the new dredd looks a little on the skinny side to me, almost like he'd make a better judge death if i've remembered that characters name correctly

  It`s been getting great reviews so far, so if that is anything to go by it is a decent film, and i think the 3d effect is mainly used to highlight certain aspects of the story, i think the parts where people are being affected by the drug that is part of the story, and it seems like it`s much more visceral and violent than the stallone film.
  
  I think part of the problem fans of the comic had with the original film was the fact that for the majority of the film he wasn`t really a judge an the comedy relief character was kind of unneccesary.
  
  I think the actor in the new one did get in shape for the role, he`s just not as big as Stallone was.
