Before the World Cup starts, we do actually have three friendlies. All of them South American teams. The first one is on the 30th May against Peru. The second one is on the 4th June against Ecuador. The third one is on the 7th June against Honduras. We need to win these games with ease otherwise our chances at the World Cup will be slim. -

Paul Dummett (it's his fault Luis Suarez is injured) has been receiving death threats from some angry Uruguayans.
But at least Suarez has a chance of getting fit in time, Germany's Lars Bender has been ruled out of the tournament with a... thigh injury.

Looks like Suarez will be back in time, apparently..
“Luis Suárez suffered an intense pain in his left knee after undergoing a normal warm-up,” the statement read. “The early diagnosis was a stable injury to the external meniscus in the knee. He was examined by a scan, which confirmed a partial injury to the external meniscus. This morning the meniscus was repaired via arthroscopy at the Médica Uruguaya hospital. There was no evidence of other injuries to the knee.
“His participation at the World Cup has not been ruled out. In terms of relevant clinical history, it is worth noting that he suffered a blow to his left knee during the last game of the Premier League season with Liverpool, which provoked a pain that subsided with rest following the end of the season.”
Suárez’s mother Sandra Diaz said: “The surgery is over and thank God everything went well. What Luis had wasn’t as serious as we thought. He’s very well. He’s going to play the World Cup.”

It's certainly going to be a good event.
world cup will be amazing, i think a south american team will win it so im going for brazil or argentina, ronaldo will be top scorer but messi will win the world cup. -

maybe its the typical pre world cup optimism but I've got this weird sense of optimism that england will do really well this tournament.......
...don't think we will win it but i can see us getting to the quarters and maybe the semis lol hopefully all the liverpool lads can perform well (i am a liverpool fan btw haha) -

Adnan Januzaj made his debut and Romelu Lukaku got a hat-trick in Belgium's 5-1 win over Luxembourg last night. They're as long as 20/1 with some bookies to win the tournament... Dark horses?
And Gerard Deulofeu has been called up to a 19-man Spain squad for their game against Bolivia this Friday, despite not being in the provisional 30. Looks like del Bosque's holding out until the last minute (June 2nd) before committing to anything and in fairness, picking a Spain squad must be a nightmare. In a good way.

It's got to be a south american team, the flair, passion, excitement down there is ridiculous. I was in Brazil for 3 weeks travelling and every type of football is supported. I was in a restaurant eating a dinner, and the football was on, just the Brazilian Premiership but everyone was watching it in a normal restaurant.
I can't see past Brazils strength or Argentinas attacking talent. Outsider i'd say chile, i dont know their odds but they'll attack attack attack, they.ll be entertaining no matter what! -
