  I know there's a lot of sci fi fans on this forum and seems like a few horror fans as well. I'm gonna rent me a movie, so what does everyone think of the NEW version release whatever of The Thing, obviously for those who have seen it? worth watching or not?

  well as it happens i'm downloading it now to see for myself. so i'll let you know tomorow what i think of it

  ah cool cuz i was thinking of renting it for tomorrow actually, lets see what anyone else thinks aout it as well i heard the story is exactly 100% the same and the first film was pretty decent i thought but i saw it a long time ago

  well timm, just finished watching the movie and personally wish i hadnt. the original was fantastic, dark moody with so much atmosphere the slightest noise made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up
  
  the 2011 version is dull, dreery, no atmosphere and what they have done to the 'Thing' is simply embarassing, IMHO
  
  now i would never say 'Dont watch this movie' as i would always make my own judgement and would hope you would to. you never know, you may enjoy it!
  
  i would mark it 2/10

  jesus christ lol well thats not very promising is it lol. i will make up my own mind but if it's 2/10 for unlikely to be more than 5/10 for me probably, we'll see lol the original was indeed very kickass. there is something about that whole 80s crappy computer and crappy tech combined with sci fi horror that is really creepy lol. alien is the same as well. or maybe those are just associations i have cuz i saw those films in my impressionable years lol

  I actually really wanna watch this, but i`ll have to wait till it`s in the cinema because i don`t like to stream films never works for me,
  i think it looks pretty good from the trailers and i like to watch films and make up my mind for myself.

  sounds interesting dont think ive seen the original maybe will download torrent for original as know of someone that upload gtreat torrent files they always in pretty good quality practically dvd like but till then will check trailers for both

  I really liked the original, and this won't be anywhere near as good but I still quite fancy seeing it.
  
  I have very little expectation of this movie, which is good in a way because it'll mean I'll probably end up quite enjoying it!

  I really liked the original aswell, it's an excellent film and the effects still stand up very well.
  
  I think the prequal could be good in that they can flesh out what happened at the, i believe it was a norwegian base can't remember, and possibly expand on some details about the creature itself,
  i'll be annoyed if it doesn't end how the original began, i really hate when prequals contradict the previous instalment.

  Yeah I hate that too! Prequels are a difficult thing to get right.
  
  I quite fancy watching the original now actually but unfortunately most of my DVD collection is currently in storage - including that one!
