  That's actually most of reason i didn't like x men first class aside from the fact that i didn't think it was very good overall, was because they marketed that as a prequal but that had so many inconsistencies and created so many plot holes when you compare the ongoing storyline with the previous films, just annoyed me.
  It seems to me like the makers of the thing prequal have alot of respect for the original though so hopefully that means they will make sure they fit together.

  ok so i have watched the new version of The Thing then and i gotta say compared to the original and actually compared to anything worth watching it was absolutely garbage lol
  
  maybe people who haven't seen the original might think different, but this was pants. they just basically remade the exact same plot almost, but somehow they completely lost the atmosphere of the film, the music was very badly done and it felt very rushed as well

  if anybody wants to watch this film, may I suggst watch the original starring Kurt Russel. its the nuts

  watch the original, the effects might not be as good, but nice effects are so common these days you won't even notice them in this the new version and how well the music is done to add the atmosphere in the original movie, and that whole 80s alien horror space movie with old crappy computers type feel to it that the old one has makes it a much better horror film.

  The original was and to this day still is an outstanding horror / sci fi movie. Whats not to like. Its one of my faves and always will be. The prequel...Urgh...and not in a good way. Was not at all scary and did nothing for me at all. A wasted opportunity and a real shame.
