  Southampton completed the signing of Roma's Italy international striker Pablo Osvaldo last night in a deal that could be worth as much as £15m. Not bad for a team who were in League One 3 years ago.
  
  Everton have rejected Man Utd's £28m joint bid for Marouane Fellaini (£16m) and Leighton Baines (£12m). Seems pretty low doesn't it? I'd imagine they'll back in with improved offers. If either of them do end up leaving, the Toffees will use the cash to fund a £15m bid for Wigan winger James McCarthy.
  
  Chelsea will make another bid for Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez is staying at Liverpool...
  
  Luka Modric is being linked with a move back to Spurs as a makeweight in the Gareth Bale deal, though the Croatia playmaker is thought to prefer a move to Man Utd. Tottenham seem more interested in Willian anyway, and are willing to pay more than Liverpool. The Scousers are also interested in PSG defender Mamadou Sakho.
  
  More Michu to Arsenal rumours too. Unlikely.

  looks like southampton are serious this season. some big signings for them, lets hope they don't end up like portsmouth, unless your a portsmouth fan and you hope they get it worse.

  Totally different to Pompey. Even if it did go tits-up pretty much all of the squad could be sold on for a profit. Even Osvaldo with the £15m fee is apparently 'only' going to be earning 50k a week.
  
  The other lot's downfall was paying the likes of Sol Campbell and Lauren north of 70k a week. No re-sale value and a shed of a stadium, not sustainable.

  Everton have described Manchester United's £28m joint bid for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines as "derisory and insulting" by director of communications Alan Myers. What exactly does that mean in football speak? add another 12 to that figure and it's OK ??? nice to work in round numbers 40 million for both...
  A bit of a cheek if you ask me, but then who wants to pay more than they have to... I wonder what Moyes would have thought had he still been at Everton?

  I think £16m isn't too far off for Fellaini. Everyone seems to be banging on about his release clause expiring like Everton can now start demanding £25-30m for him. Surely the fact that no-one bid £22m when they could have got him for that is because no-one thought he was worth it?
  
  £12m for Baines seems low, but how much can you realistically demand for a 29-year-old left back?
  
  If Everton are interested in cashing in, somewhere in the region of £33-35m will probably be enough to make something happen. Though they might decide to just keep hold of them, who knows...

  Just been reported that Arsenal have made a £10m bid for Newcastle midfielder Yohann Cabaye.
  
  I'll let you know if/when they stop fucking about and actually make a serious offer for someone.

  of all the type of players they need i think a central midfield attack minded player is the last. i think wenger is losing his mind and 10 million is a bit of a joke in this market.

  I might have made this point on here before so stop me if i'm repeating myself, but Wenger is more like a director than a manager, and more interested in the club's balance sheet than trying to push on and win some trophies.
  
  Obviously you don't want to go too far the other way (Harry Redknapp springs to mind) but a manager should be the one pushing for signings, and giving the board a bit of aggro until he gets them. It's positive tension, a bit of competitive spirit...
  
  I don't see that at Arsenal at all.

  i totally agree with you, obviously you don't want to cripple the club, but they are so strong financially and haven't won anything in so long it, i think it shows where the priority lies.

  I almost feel sorry for all the supporters who've swallowed the 'just you wait, in a few years we'll be challenging' story.
  
  4th place and Champions League football every year is probably the most profitable business model, sadly.
