THE WEEK IN TRANSFER RUMOURS: 8th October

Adnan Januzaj scored a couple of goals, his contract’s up at the end of the season, it’d probably be easier to list the teams that aren’t ‘ready to pounce’. United will try and keep him sweet with a 4-year deal worth £50k a week.
Saido Berahino scored a couple of goals, his contract’s up at the end of the season, Chelsea are ‘ready to pounce’. West Brom will try and keep him sweet by offering a new contract.
Ravel Morrison scored a couple of goals, his contract’s got a £19m release clause… Seriously, who’s paying £19m? He’s fine as he is.
Swap deals are great aren’t they? Team A (let’s say Man Utd) get the player they want for a reduced fee and can offload a stiff to Team B in the process. Can’t imagine why they never actually happen… Anyways, Man Utd want to chop Shinji Kagawa in for Dortmund’s Neven Subotic and when they’re done they’ll take Leighton Baines off Everton’s hands for £15m and Antonio Valencia. Everyone’s a winner, baby.
Real Madrid are scheming. They’ll bid for one of Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero in the January and offload Karim Benzema to a grateful Chelsea, Arsenal or Man Utd, for £17m.
Chelsea fans, don’t get excited just yet. Juventus want your Lukaku and PSG your Mata. The French side will offer £35m for the misunderstood Spaniard.
This was supposed to be Wilfried Zaha’s year. How was he to know a younger, tricksier and more foreign upstart would upstage him? Newcastle, West Brom and Stoke are all willing to do the decent thing.
Spurs, so short of midfield options, are after Andrea Pirlo. The end.
