  Bit more of a balanced one this year. Last December and January were brutal, seemed like we were playing all the top sides, twice in some cases.
  
  Happy with the signings so far. A 22 year old Spanish international and 23 year old Portuguese one for less than £10m combined looks like great business.
  
  Now to keep hold of Clyne, Toby, Schneiderlin and Wanayama... Hmmm.

  yea it was brutal after such a great start,but finishing 7th aint half bad at all and you can look forward to a bit of european mmm the signings good bit of business as usual on your part
  Southampton sign Cedric Soares from Sporting Lisbon
  
  Southampton have signed Portugal defender Cedric Soares on a four-year contract in a deal worth up to £4.7m  from Sporting Lisbon.
  
  The 23-year-old is the club's second signing this week following the arrival of Spain forward Juanmi from Malaga.
  "We have signed two exciting talents early in the window," said executive director of football Les Reed.
  "We will continue in our pursuit of Premier League success and our European journey."
  Right-back Soares made his senior debut for Portugal in October 2014 and has won four caps.
  He was sent off  as 10-man Sporting came from 2-0 behind to defeat Braga and win the Portuguese Cup in May.
  Southampton will compete in the third qualifying round of the Europa League after finishing seventh in the Premier League.
  
  "I joined this club because I believe we can do better and better every year," said Germany-born Soares.
  
  "Everyone knows that the Premier League is a very, very good league - and maybe the best one in the world - so for me it's a pleasure to be here."
  Saints' first-choice right-back Nathaniel Clyne has yet to sign a new contract and has been linked with a move to Liverpool. just hope clyne stays with you

  Liverpool have made an improved £12.5m bid for Southampton and England right-back Nathaniel Clyne.
  The Saints last month rejected a £10m offer from their Premier League rivals for the 24-year-old defender.
  The two clubs remain in negotiations, with Southampton wanting £15m for a player who has one year left on his contract at St Mary's.
  Clyne has become a target for the Anfield club after full-back Glen Johnson, 30, was released.
  Liverpool are offering Clyne, who joined the Saints from Crystal Palace in July 2012, a five-year deal to become their sixth summer signing.
  They announced the £29m recruitment of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino on Wednesday to follow deals for defender Joe Gomez, midfielder James Milner, striker Danny Ings and goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.

  Only a year left on his contract, so it's difficult. Hardly a step-up though is it? Just another Europa League team, and look what happened to the batch of our players they took last summer.
