SOUTHAMPTON
StrumSolo > 15/08/2013, 20:20
In: Victor Wanyama (Celtic, £12.5m), Dejan Lovren (Lyon, £8.5m).
Out: Vegard Forren (Molde FK, Undisclosed), Sam Hoskins (Yeovil, Free), Richard Chaplow (Millwall, Free), Steve de Ridder (Utrecht, Free), Ryan Dickson (Colchester, Free), Ben Reeves (MK Dons, Free), Frazer Richardson (Middlesbrough, Free), Dan Seaborne (Yeovil, Free).
Released: Danny Butterfield, Tommy Forecast.
Prediction: 10th
There’s no doubting the fact that Lovren and Wanyama are both bloody good signings for the Saints, and a few eyebrows were raised as each of them were announced. However, more additions are probably needed if they’re to live up to all the hype. You wouldn’t bet against Rickie Lambert having another strong season, but options are light up front and another striker should be a priority. A centre half who’s more Lovren and less Hooiveld would settle the nerves too.
Managing to keep hold of the likes of Shaw and Schneiderlin shouldn’t be sniffed at and Mauricio Pochettino seems to know what he’s doing. I can’t see why they won’t improve on last season. Top half, just about. -

i agree with you on this one they have made a couple of quality signings to add to a team that plays really good football. with the confidence they'll have from last season and their new signings i expect them to do well. -

Osvaldo signed from Roma last night. Think they're looking good for at least a top 8 finish now. -

that is a big shout again. you love your bold predictions. go to the bookies and bet on sunderland to finish last and southampton to finish top 8. it would make a nice double. -

wow they are sad bastards and probably virgins. i don't won't to spoil it for them but i'm guessing about ten of the forty they are missing are probably dead. -

Three players called up to the England squad, two in the u21s and Mauricio Pochettino has just won manager of the month as well.
Not a bad week really (aside from losing to Sunderland in the cup). -

Nicola Cortese hands in resignation at Southampton
Well that's a bit shit.
Cue speculation about Pochettino and the better players being on their way too.
Just when things were looking alright...
