  What was the best console in the old days, the SNES or the Mega Drive, or was the NES the unbeatable classic? LEt me know what you think?

  why stop with the NES, why not go back to amiga's, commodore 64's, spectrum, intelivision etc... etc..
  
  pretty much all of them have both plus points and negatives.

  Yeah what humiliateme just said but if ur talking snes vs megadrive it has to be the snes which has just celebrated its 20th birthday :)

  I never owned the SNES or a NES or a Commador, I was Spectrum, then Master System then Megadrive. Some of my favourite games of all time where made for the spectrum, the Dizzy series being chief amongst them.

  i had the dizzy games on my commador 64, the memorys have faded quite a lot as it was so long ago i last played them but i remember enough to know they were really good

  Yeah I had an Amiga and a Spectrum if I recall. They were good, but my fondest memories are of the catridge based nintendo and sega 8- bit systems and onwards really. The old stuff was good, but for me it's not a patch on mario, sonic, zelda, metroid etc.

  amiga c64 pc engine they were an aquired taste but yes we are talking console and the greatest cartridge based machine out there is still the snes just take a look at there konami back catalogue for one konami and nintendo were a match made in heaven.

  It's just a shame that the Megadrive had the better port of Street Fighter 2, which was one of the best beat em ups available at the time.

  I had a mega drive as a kid. Sonic the Hedghog 2 was my favourite game. There was a certain level where I would be damned if anyone could complete it quicker than me. Even now, I could take anyone on, lol!
  Streets of Rage was a great game too. It's come out as a app on the iPhone, still a classic!

  i'm not really a fan of the iPhone app versions of classic games, they just don't really work very well with a touch screen or at least i don't feel they do. they might possibly be better on a iPad or something.
  
  i'm actually just about to have a search and download some emulators for the snes and c64. anyone got any recommendations for particularly good ones?
