FA Cup and Premier League this week!
SATURDAY
Arsenal v Everton 12:45 (FA Cup)
The Gunners are all over the place at the moment but they do at least seem to be bouncing back from disappointing results (Stoke away). Everton aren’t in great form either though so I fancy the home side to sneak this (5/6). The -1 handicap is just about worth a go at 11/5 but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was tighter than that, maybe even score-draw tight (19/5).
Prediction: (13/2)
West Brom v Man Utd 12:45 (Premier League)
If they can beat Palace away then they
should be able to see West Brom off as well. 4/5 for the away win seems reasonable value, but not betting on United at all is where the money’s at. They can’t be trusted. Rooney at 11/8 to score any time might be worth a nibble though.
Prediction: 0-2 (15/2)
Cardiff v Fulham 15:00 (Premier League)
The sixiest of six-pointers in which whoever loses is pretty much down. Neither of them look particularly capable of winning a football match though so it’ll have to be the draw at 12/5. The sense of occasion won’t be lost on Craig Bellamy and 15/8 on him popping up with a heroic any time strike is well worth a look.
Prediction: 1-1 (11/2)
Crystal Palace v Southampton 15:00 (Premier League)
Palace tend to win their winnable home games and look great value at 14/5. Having said that, I reckon the Saints might nick a point and the score draw at 7/2 isn’t bad either. In keeping with tradition, it’ll have to be Jay Rodriguez to score first (11/2) and how about Puncheon against his former club? 11/4 any time for that.
Prediction: (6/1)
Norwich v Stoke 15:00 (Premier League)
Has a game ever been more destined to end 0-0 than this one? Norwich don’t look much like scoring, but they haven’t conceded in their last 4 home games either. 13/10 for another clean sheet looks decent, but 7/1 on it finishing goalless is better.
Prediction: 0-0 (7/1)
Chelsea v Tottenham 17:30 (Premier League)
Tim Sherwood will ‘have a go’ all day long, but he tends to come up short against these fancy continental types with their ‘tactics’ and ‘game plans’. Spurs’ record at the Bridge is awful too so it’s got to be the home win at a reasonable 4/7. Chelsea and BTTS is tempting at 5/2, but that does rely on Spurs scoring, so maybe the -1 handicap at 29/20 is the safer option.
Prediction: 2-0 (13/2)
SUNDAY
Sheff Utd v Charlton 12:00 (FA Cup)
United have won 8 on the spin and look well placed to see off this struggling Charlton side, despite being a division below them. 6/5 for the home win is possibly a touch short but worth a place on your acca at least. The -1 at 16/5 is tempting too.
Prediction: 3-1 (20/1)
Hull v Sunderland 14:00 (FA Cup)
Hull are supposed to win all their home games 1-0, but last weekend they lost 4-1 to Newcastle. I don’t know what to believe any more, especially when they’re up against a Sunderland side who love a cup-run and played pretty well against City in the final of the other one. Jelavic and Long both being cup-tied won’t help either. Away win (13/5), just, and fewer than 1.5 goals at 13/8 might be worth a go too.
Prediction: 0-1 (15/2)
Man City v Wigan 16:05 (FA Cup)
As ever, we’re battling against the assumption that City will go and score 5 or 6. They’ll obviously win, but Wigan with a +2 at 29/20 looks safe enough, and have a think about City not scoring 3+ at EVS.
Prediction: 2-0 (11/2)
Acca: £5 on draws in the games at Norwich, Palace and Cardiff could return just under £180!
