Posts in Russian???
Does anybody know why posts keep appearing from newly joined members that are entirely in Russian? I think one may have been advertising Viagra which would make sense, but why in Russian?

They are nearly a daily occurrence now and always from someone who creates a new user account, posts once and then creates a new user name for their next post, presumably because their original account was subsequently blocked or deleted.

I can understand spam posts trying to trick members to click on dodgy links but surely that should be in English so everyone can read it. Unless we have a massive Russian membership, which I very much doubt, it is a total mystery to me. Does anyone have any suggestions?

RE: Posts in Russian???
A clever spammer would insert their link code into a button with the word "translate" on it.

Yes I agree that if you had executable code behind an obvious TRANSLATE button, that would be very clever and would collect loads of victims for your virus. However, all that ever seems to be present in the posts is plain text, which seems to serve no obvious purpose that I can see.

RE: Posts in Russian???
Seems to serve no obvious purpose..too bleediin right, Grandduke. The only useful purpose those serve is to waste our time and piss us off. Not that were not a lovely bunch on the forum already and welcome new members. But on clocking a reply from an unfamiliar member name, under the assumption they may have something useful to input, to select that and to realise it's just some bleedin add for lob on pills or the such..grrr. Besides, if the facility were there to click on a link in their post, if you are rookie enough to fall for such a bleedin obvious scam as that, if you contract a virus you have limited sympathy this end.

Yes I agree with you that they are bloody annoying. Like you, I have clicked on their posts, anticipating some thought-provoking comment on the subject, only to be subjected to a torrent of Russian. Pisses me off no end when that happens.

RE: Posts in Russian???
Perhaps staff could give special powers to a small group of regular Forum users, which would allow them to police the forum on their behalf, outside office hours. These superusers could delete spam posts and the user accounts associated with them.

An audit trail could be set which would track all administrative actions taken by superusers. Staff would be able to check this daily to ensure that no-one was abusing their privileges. This would free up staff to do better things and rid the forum of spam much more quickly.

RE: Posts in Russian???
An additional power these superusers could be given is to block some abusive users from the chat box. This is much overdue, as there is bullying and verbal abuse directed at many of the girls by some keyboard warriors. Some girls do have this power but not all do, so this measure would be an extra layer of defence against these trolls.

Again an audit trail should be created which would show who blocked who and all the comments by that person that led up to this action. This would ensure that a superuser does not overstep the mark with this power they have.

If only the powers that be read these comments Sad I doubt they do or you,d get replies by them not just by us superusers.Another great idea but do THE POWERS really care? . I think no I know they don't because not one reply in any of your good posts by any one of use. Sad

RE: Posts in Russian???
I guess they think these ideas i keep coming up with are not even worth replying too, they are so stupid (in their opinion). We know they read them because they do post replies to some people but clearly they are being selective about who they do this.
