PORNHUB USERS NOW HAVE TO INPUT THEIR PASSPORT DETAILS TO ACCESS THE SITE

It's just come to light that PornHub is now asking millions of users to login to the site using their personal details as well as their passport. Don't start stressing just yet though as it's only affecting users in Russia at the moment.



The Russian government has been trying for years to make it harder for people in the country to access porn websites, with officials saying that PornHub is harming the development of children. Hmm, I think there's a lot more fucked up shit in Russia harming the development of children.



Russian users are asked to log in to social network site VKontakte, which then links to a section where they can input their passport info as well as their date of birth. Apparently it's only done so that the website can be sure that the user is old enough but like many people have been saying, it also leaves users vulnerable to hackers. We all know what happened with the Ashley Madison users.

It won't be long until the UK are imposing the same rules and in all honestly I'm just not sure this is a good thing. Thoughts?

Ah, the old protecting the children argument.

It's not a great idea and not just because of hackers.  It's not too big a step to go from requiring users to input passport information to requiring the website to pass that information onto the authorities and god only knows how they would make use of it.

I totally agree that waiting until you're 18 to watch porn is bloody ridiculous. Parents that don't want to have the 'sex' discussion with their kids are quick to jump to porn as the blame for these 'disgusting urges' when in reality the parents should be explaining to young guys and girls that the shit they might see in porn is not real life and sex doesn't play out that way. A lot of kids have never once had a conversation with their parents about sex and this is where the problem stems from. The kids then seek out answers to their questions and look to porn for that when their parents could have just explained it to them.

You say simaler would never happen here in the uk, loadsofposts69. As much as id love to agree with you, im not a political sort but once May and her cronies are allowed carte blanche when it comes to uk law and such, i reckon were all fucked. Personally i opted to stay in europe, not because i the immigration side of things..that is way out of control but because of the whole 'beter the devil you know' thinking. As for the whole Russia/pornhub/passport thing, child protection is a ruse, thgey just wanna know who is checking out the stuff. To what ends..who knows, but can only guess it aint good.

I can understand age verification, to a certain extent, but what you then have to think about is, if there's anyone who'll be able to work their way around something like that, it's a horny teenager
