  At what point do's a pub game become a sport? seen on the news earlier something about Phil the power Taylor winning the most world titles ever, then some guy sayin he wants to get it into the next olympics, im not having a pop at guys who play darts, im fuckin crap at it and i appreciate it takes a load of skill to play it well, but when do's a pub game become a sport, can we expect to see dominos or cards in the olympics in the future or maybe fruit machines or pissed shoutin at the telly! id be good at that! LOL!

  I seriously agree, really hate it how snooker gets quite some television coverage which to me its a pub game not a sport (ok snooker is more harder than pool but its basically the same to me) same goes for darts but even worse is that poker gets television coverage. One thing i think should happen though regarding a channel is, while we get the barclays premier league on Sky Sports 1 or 2 on the weekends (4 matches over the weekend at best) couldn't we have Sky Sports 4 doing the same for the lower leagues, and i don't just mean Championship, Leagues One and Two as well! #Preach

  It's all about sponsorship now, these 'pub' games had relatively little coverage until the likes of Sky came on the scene (we had Pot Black didn't we lol), and then it was and still is all about the money, the more sport they can show and reach more people the better earning potential.
  And with poker, well the internet gaming sites has caused that to grow in a big way, so now more punters can get in on the action, but what makes me smile are the 'celebrity' poker shows / tournaments, you just gotta love progress don't you...
  If anyone from sky reads this can we please have some naked mud wrestling or cheerleader / bikini american football, that might be worth watching!

  extreme sports is a good watch on the odd occasion i find, i've tried watching ESPN a few times but its actually more dominated by football than i expected with ESPN being an American channel. I will laugh if Darts becomes an olympic sport, they are just about getting rugby in soon

  weirdly i would say keep the ladies football that was quite a good one, but Jade Jones has to return to Rio i can just expect how more hot she would be than she is now :P

  Good point RussyRover. I do have to agree with you that games like snooker and darts don't really get enough recognition therefore the participants don't get enough money. So what do they do? Try to get these games recognised as sports by more exposure to wider Audiences. For example using Sky, Cable and Eurosport channels. I suppose when someone like Phil Taylor comes along and draws in crowds. Then a game or sport can become more recognised. Maybe it's just up to the players to raise the standards of their performances that get's the public interest. Then when the public interest is there then maybe a game or sport can be recognised officially as a sport comparable with other recognised sports. Look at boxing. Know one was interested in it until Muhammad Ali came along and turned it into an event with his showmanship and of cause his boxing skills. Then boxing became recognised as a global sport. Bob Beamon did the same with the long jump: made it more popular with his world record breaking jump at the 1968 Olympics. The record stood for about 26 years before it was broken.
