  Out: James Perch (Wigan, £750,000), Danny Simpson (QPR, Free), Steve Harper (Hull City, Free), Mehdi Abeid (Panathinaikos, Loan), Shane Ferguson (Birmingham, Loan.
  
  Prediction: 13th
  
  Things were looking relatively rosy at one point way back in early summer. Sure, the season just ended wasn’t the best domestically, but they’d had a good run in Europe and wouldn’t be distracted by Thursday night continental trips in 2013/14. A bit more time for the January signings to gel and a few fresh faces… Top half? Do-able. Then Joe Fuckin’ Kinnear rolled up.
  
  Brought in to oversee transfers, the only two additions so far are French. Not a huge departure from their previous transfer strategy then. In truth, all he’s really done is de-stabilise the club and make them a bit of a laughing stock. I’m sure a fair few players have gone elsewhere as a result of Kinnear’s involvement too.
  
  So, predictions. If Kinnear goes and Pardew stays, 10th. If it’s the other way around, relegated. As things stand, 13th.

  i have no idea where newcastle wil finish this season, they have some real quality players, but their team is so hot and cold, i don't think any result would shock me. should help that they won't be distracted with europe.

  It all comes down to how much influence Kinnear has over the course of the season for me. Surely they won't let him anywhere near the manager's job will they??

  i don't think he will be interfering too much with the managerial side of things. i'd be more worried about the temperament and spirit of the squad. some games they are brilliant, others like the liverpool one they are terrible and just dont care.

  Got told he was in fact a Newcastle player on loan at St Andrews.

  I was shocked that Kinnear has got this far into the season without making a complete gaffe like this one, what a complete plonker he is, still don't get what he offers Newcastle

  Haha this is utter genius, you wouldn't mind if he had only been at Newcastle United for five minutes before going on loan but he has been there since he was a youth player I think (I am open to being corrected on this one) I know a Newcastle fan and I think they were more open to Dennis Wise coming back than Joe Kinnear :-P

  I'd hazard a guess that with the constant protests and bad press, Mike Ashley is probably quite paranoid and feels like he needs someone loyal/a yes man close to hand.
  
  Not like anyone else was going to appoint Kinnear so he's probably massively grateful for it.

  Kinnear was out of touch the last time he was at Newcastle but yeah I think it is the cockney mafia and with Pardew locked into such a long contract, it always pays to have a cheap fall guy in Kinnear if things go wrong.
