RIDDICK
Riddick, the third film in following the infamous criminal of the same name (a sequel to Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick), has had a somewhat rocky production and even though it wrapped up filming a few months ago, there's been nary a mention as to when fans might see it. Now we know as Universal Pictures has finally announced a release date.
The sequel to Chronicles of Riddick has been long-gestating. First it didn't seem like it was going to happen, because of the director's (David Twohy) insistence on an R rating. Then things finally came together and Vin Diesel started showing off concept art and minor details on his Facebook page. Filming finally started...then had to shut down because the money stopped coming. Eventually the money came back and production resumed again. So, it's been a long and winding road to this film.
At least there's an end in site as Universal has set the film to release on
September 6, 2013.

Info from screenrant;
The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.
Jordi Mollà (Colombiana) plays the aforementioned “arrogant” merc ship captain, while stars such as Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and Bokeem Woodbine (Devil) portray, respectively, a mercenary and bounty hunter, who both butt heads with Diesel’s onscreen counterpart. Karl Urban reprises his roles as Necromonger Commander Vaako from Chronicles of Riddick, while the remainder of the cast includes burly types such as WWE/WWF vet Dave Bautista and Raoul Trujillo (Apocalypto, True Blood) as the “lethal and violent” warriors who are all vying to take Riddick out.
