New Land Rover Defender spotted in the wild
Not sure if the following image was ever an official concept, or merely the work of a virgin with a Photoshop key and too much time on his hands.

Oh no, sorry.  One sec...

But in the absence of anything more concrete in the 5 years or so since the original Defender was laid to rest, the idea of that Fisher Price bit kind of took hold.  Like this was just the way things are now and it's new and it's bad and it's wrong and fuck Evoques!

Thankfully, the situation hasn't panned out quite as gravely as all of that.  The actual new Defender will go on sale later this year, and here are some spy shots.  Scuse the camo.

Much better.

Let's all treasure this period right now where it's still not been tainted by school runs, celebrities and anyone else who only wants to drive on tarmac.

Ideal for running to the supermarket or cruising round town. It lost the rugged 4x4 market to Toyota, Izuzu, Mitsubishi etc years ago. The old Defender was a dinosaur and for some reason idiots are paying £35k plus for them.

Hi There Scotty, Johncack And All You Rampant Hentai's

The New Defender Shape Looks Fine, But The Paint Job Looks Seriously Naff ! In My Opinion.
There May Be A Few Pepps Even A Few Idiots Out There That Will Dig The New Paint Job.
Hope They Keep There Hands On The Receipt, The Sight Of It Might Kick Up A Protest Or Two With Traditional Types Like Me,lol.

I Always Say " If It Isn't Broken, Don't Try And Mend It."

Jester

RE: New Land Rover Defender spotted in the wild
Range Rover have lost their way. There are only so many drug dealers, school run poseurs and footballers to sell to. They make far to many models and are now seen as luxury products, not workhorses. The new Vauxhall advert nails what has happened to the 4x4. £300 Dubarry wellies in place of £12 Dunlop. If I wanted a 4x4 I would buy a proper mud plugger and save the excess for a decent saloon like an A6 or E Class.

LEGO version of the new Defender looks better than the real thing! How embarrassing!

Boxier innit. What we want, isn't it?

What's more, this LEGO Technic bit, which you can pre-order for the low, low price of £159.99, has among its 2573 pieces a fully independent articulating suspension, a working winch, three lil' differentials, and "the most sophisticated gearbox" ever included in a Lego set.

How about it then, dweebs; interest suitably piqued?

A video...

And for good measure, a couple more pics.

MEGO, more like.

RE: New Land Rover Defender spotted in the wild
New Defender is a lifestyle accessory. One version costs £78k. Toyota and Mitsubishi can rest easy and keep supplying the real 4x4 market. These will soon be appearing near a nursery or upmarket gym near you. No wonder RR sales are falling. Gerry McGovern is a clueless designer.

I'll never forget the Top gear episode where they done everything trying to destroy that Toyota Hilux. Now that's what a call a real 4x4, the thing is bloody unstoppable. Land rovers nowadays are more a fashion statement than anything else
