This is Dev Patel's directorial debut that is produced by Jordan Peele, and it looks phenomenal. Visually it looks beautiful, with a good emotional core at the heart of the film. The action looks brilliantly violent too.

Hey Claydavis! I wrote a bit about the movie, hope you don't mind me adding it to this thread.
I'm thrilled to share my thoughts on a film that's piqued my interest - "Monkey Man," a directorial debut by the talented Dev Patel, with the creative genius Jordan Peele as a producer. This isn't just a film; it's a cultural confluence of Western dynamism and Eastern mythology.
The trailer of "Monkey Man" is a masterclass in suspense and intrigue. We meet 'Kid', a character enshrouded in mystery and burning with vengeance, portrayed by Patel. The film draws inspiration from the legend of Hanuman, a symbol of strength and resilience in Indian lore, promising a narrative rich in cultural depth yet universally resonant.
What sets "Monkey Man" apart is its audacious narrative style. Patel, showcasing his directorial flair, weaves a tale that's as much a societal critique as it is a personal vendetta. The film delves into the struggles of the marginalized, set against the corrupt elite's backdrop. This thematic richness, coupled with adrenaline-fueled action, hints at a film that's emotionally and visually compelling.
The international cast, including Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Pitobash, adds a global flavor to the film. But it's Jordan Peele's involvement as a producer that truly elevates the project. Known for his knack for thought-provoking narratives, Peele's touch suggests a film that's likely to challenge and captivate audiences.
From the trailer, "Monkey Man" promises a fusion of raw fight scenes and exhilarating chases, a treat for action lovers. Yet, it's the emotional depth and the quest for retribution that I believe will be the film's core. The story of 'Kid', battling in an underground club while masked, is a potent metaphor, a narrative device ripe with potential.
In sum, "Monkey Man" is poised to be a groundbreaking film. It's a cultural amalgamation, blending Western cinematic prowess with Eastern storytelling, and a stage for Dev Patel and Jordan Peele to showcase their combined artistic vision. As a cinephile with a penchant for Bollywood's emotional richness and Hollywood's technical sophistication, I'm eagerly anticipating this film's release. It promises to be a cinematic journey that's as enlightening as it is exhilarating. -

Nah, I don't mind at all FantasticMR. That was a beautifully written piece that encapsulates the essence of why I'm so enthralled by this film and eagerly anticipating it so much. I didn't know Sharlto Copely was in it, I've been a fan since he was in District Nine. It's great to see Patel make is directorial debut in the same year as Kaluuya made his too, they've botht had great careers since appearing on Channel Four's Skins. I'm sure Nicolas Hoult will follow in their footsteps soon and direct his own film soon. -

In the trailer you see the most split second piece of footage of Sharlto Copely as the ring announcer but it’s very much blink and you’ll miss him. -

Superb Owl trailer. It looks like it's scenes we've seen already from the first trailer but just condensed in a smaller amount of time and with a simple score and voiceover the top of it.

Viscerally violent with a heart and a brain. Patel did really well for his directorial debut, as well as writing and acting in it too. It has a level of simplicity but within that it also has layers of love for his culture and action movies in general from various countries and eras.
