whiteeagle welcome to the forum.
All sensible stuff, but what if he does his usual trick of having a meltdown in season 3? Season 2 is normally when clubs see the best of him, so if this is as good as it gets are you still happy?
A lot of ifs and buts there I know but he does seem to be getting a bit frayed around the edges already. -

A lot of ifs and buts there I know but he does seem to be getting a bit frayed around the edges already.
I guess time will tell if next year we see a decline, but he is one of the best managers in world football and we won 2 trophies last year (even if its not the 2 we are used to) and realistically I am not sure who would replace him if he were to leave next year so new contract was deserved, and we know what you get with Jose in terms of whining and complaints but he is a serial winner and there's not many mangers out there like that at the moment. Also I genuinely think we could compete in Champions League this year, I've said this before but friends have all thought I'm mad. But if you look at it PSG or Real, Chelsea have Barca so a few good teams are going out and if we get a favourable draw (and win against Seville firstly) who knows. Success in Europe would probably be semi-finals to be honest. But I think we'll find out next year about Jose's future which will ultimately be down to how successful we are. I'm also just glad to see us comfortably up there, I know City will win the league with ease but I think Jose will use this year as a springboard into next and hopefully (a lot of ifs and buts) we'll be successful with him at the helm -

What is our best team at the moment?
Interested in others opinions on United best XI after Sanchez joining
I'm of the opinion that we should play with a 3 man midfield.
2 in midfield just doesn't work unless you have legs, energy and discipline.
I think to get the best out of Pogba (and we should build the team around him for the money we paid) you need a 3 in midfield. Matic to hold with Pogba slightly more advanced giving him less defensive work to do and another, probably Herrera although I like the lad McTominay uses the ball well doesnt try too much when hes on it and against Huddersfield (A team that defend deep, 11 men behind the ball) I think he moved the ball quickly which you need.
No question in my mind we have the best goalkeeper in the world in De Gea but its always in the back of my mind whether Real Madrid will try again to steal him.
Also I think Valencia has turned into a quality modern day full back, he always had that attacking mindset being a winger but his understanding defensively has been remarkable and its credit to him putting in a shift every game. One of our more consistent players.
Centre Backs are a funny one. I think once Bailly is fit he's most probably our best defender. Aggressive, wins it high up and is pretty quick. The other centre back slot is an odd one. Jones, Smalling, Rojo and Lindelof all have had decent games but not too consistent. I think there was a period last year when Jones and Rojo had a really good partnership over 10-15 games and I thought right these guys could push on but injuries and mistakes often make me question the centre backs.
Left Back, I think Luke Shaw. He's been consistent over last couple months and I think Jose may have turned a corner with him. But Ashley Young, quite similar to Valencia, in that he's played a few positions and you can never question his professionalism and character. He always puts in a shift but I think Shaw is still the best left back at the club no question.
Other defenders like Darmian and Blind I cant see having much of a future beyond this season.
Midfield I've briefly spoke about but Matic, Pogba and for now Herrera would be my 3.
A front 3 is quite difficult to pick. Listing all the candidates Lukaku, Sanchez, Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Mata, Ibrahimovic (doubt he'll get much game time though)
I think Lukaku and Sanchez have to play given the money spent on Lukaku and wages of Sanchez. Then one of Martial, Rashford, Mata or Lingard. Current form I'd say either Lingard or Martial. Although Mata is a player like no other we have. No other player in our squad is a number 10 type player we have players that can play there but might lack the quality of passing of Juan. Definitely think he's a huge part of our squad. And of course Rashford on his day could give anyone trouble.
Overall my 11:
De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Shaw, Matic, Pogba, Herrera, Sanchez, Martial, Lukaku

Alexis Sanchez given 16-month prison sentence for tax fraud
Alexis Sanchez has accepted a 16-month prison sentence for committing tax fraud during his time at Barcelona.
The Manchester United forward was accused of defrauding the treasury of €1 million (£890,000) between 2012 and 2013, relating to income from his image rights.
Sanchez has reached an agreement with the prosecutor to pay the money he owes with interest.
Despite the verdict, the Chilean will not spend time in prison as he is a first offender and the sentence is less than two years.
The ex-Arsenal star is the latest football figure to be punished by Spanish prosecutors for dodging taxes.
Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho and Ricardo Carvalho have all been pursued by the authorities recently.
Barcelona star Messi managed to exchange his 21-month jail term for a €250,000 (£221,000) fine, while Mourinho paid to settle his and Carvalho was given a fine and a seven-month sentence. Ronaldo, accused of owing €14.7m (£13.04), has protested his innocence in an ongoing case.
These footballers really think they are special don't they

Definitely not a good look. But with the amount of Real and Barca players that have been caught up in this it seems more like they were poorly advised than purposely trying to swindle the tax man.
