Premier League vs Spurs (A): 2-1
Oh well our nineteen game unbeaten run in all competitions is now over and all it took as a last minute own goal after a red card that even Gary Neville said wasn't, a goal ruled out for offside that wasn't, and a sending off where the first yellow was due to the player fouling himself. I don't understand how a team that has finished top of the fair play league so many times in recent years, has now received four reds in seven games. Thankfully one of them was overturned by an independent body seperate from the PGMOL, because it was so stupidly given. More needs to be done to improve the standard of refereeing in football. Their needs to be more transparency and accountability. This squad is continually proving that we've got the potential to win a lot of trophies in the next few years.
I'm not gonna do a full rating today, apart from saying that the entire team were boss.
The PGMOL have now released an official statement. Heads needs to roll and the entire thing needs ripping up and starting again. After Webb did that cozy interview on Sky Sports revealing the ongoings behind VAR, it's clear that lines of communication between the referee and the VAR is more detailed than just "check complete". I'm not saying they're corrupt but after recent events in Spain with Barca and in Italy with Juventus. It wouldn't surprise me if they were.

It's the morning after the night before and I'm still livid about how inept the refs were. I've been doing these post match posts for a few seasons now and I never really have a go at refs too much. I understand that their job is tough and some decisions, like Jones and Jota's sending offs are subjective and are in the grey area. But black and white decisions like the Diaz "offside" and the statements the PGMOL have released since then, have only highlighted their incompetence and inability to follow their own procedures. But if the old adge is true, about how everything evens it self out at the end of the season then hopefully in one of our future matches our opponents will get an onside goal incorrectly ruled out for offside LOOOOOL.

The club have now released an official statement about the decision to rule Diaz's goal offside. And in other positive news Liverpool's Women's team travelled away to the Emirates stadium as underdogs, and in front of the biggest crowd ever for a women's super league match, got their first win of the season on the first day of the season. It was similar to how we beat Chelsea on the opening day of last season at Prenton Park after winning promotion.
The audio of the Luis Diaz disallowed goal has now been released, and it shows how incompetent the PGMOL are. I don't understand why they rushed the check for offside so quickly and weren't clearly communicating with each other about what they were doing. The only person to come out of this with any credit was the replay operator that said to the VAR and the AVAR that Diaz was onside and the game should be stopped. Thankfully we pursued the issue and not just accepted their initial acknowledgement of human error. Hopefully this will now lead to a new system where offside decisions are decided by computers like goal line technology does. It would also be nice if VAR audio is broadcast live like it is in other sports.
