Kelechi Iheanacho scored English football's first VAR goal last night

As you've probably seen, VAR (video assistant referee) technology is being trialled in the FA Cup this season. The idea is that if there's any uncertainty surrounding a decision, a game can be stopped and the incident referred to another official sat in front of a screen somewhere.
Last night, during Leicester's third round replay against Shrewsbury, we got to see how this works in practice.
Kelechi Iheanacho's goal was initially ruled offside, but after 70 seconds of discussion with a man on high via his earpiece, pitch ref Bobby Madley decided it should stand.
So... What does everyone make of all this? It's inevitably the way things are going with the amount of money in the game nowadays, not to mention the level of influence from broadcasters who also provide the technology, but will it actually make us any happier? You obviously don't want to see you team robbed of points, but when that sort of controversy is taken out of the game so is the opportunity to scream about a referee's fondness for masturbation in unison with 30,000 other fans. It seems to me the arguments are half the fun, and we'll miss them when they're gone. -

Couldn't have put it better myself.You argue about the decision but its soon forgotten when the next game comes.I suppose every change gets some getting used to.But I don't agree with it. -

Also feel quite strongly that the rules or structure of the game should be consistent right across the board. Whether it's a Sunday league match or the World Cup final, football should be football.
Guess we started moving away from that with the goal line technology but with this as well now it's definitely becoming a two-tier sport. Real shame. -

So VAR is all good, especially for Tournaments, Cups and Premier League. Maradona famous handball, for instance wouldn't have stood.
Like the goal line technology, it is a progression. The Refs have shown how sometimes they're useless.

Hand of god, perfect example. That's one of the most iconic moments in the sport's history, proven by the fact that we're still talking about it now. With VAR it's disallowed, England still don't win the bloody thing and in the absence of any feelings of injustice, all future games against Argentina are a lot less fun.
I totally get the argument for more technology, but lets not pretend there isn't a price to pay. -

The bloke on the right looks like he'd struggle to process a single thought on anything. Is he the best person not to be baffled by new tech?
I hear what you're saying about it taking a bit of edge out of the game but does that matter more than fair/accurate decisions especially when there is so much money in the sport?
