i have the feeling i put the wrong title on this thread.
so . last night at the update a journalist asked if we could see 'R' figures by city. which i suggested on this thread, the scientist said "he had them but did not have them with him" ( dog ate my homework excuse if ever,,)
but clearly this makes sense to have a 'rolling lockdown' some parts of the UK did not need a lock down at all. the south west has no problem with covid, they could have kept bars restaurants . businesses open. we were told 3 weeks ago that the 'R' number was 0.6 which was too high to ease the lockdown. we were told yesterday it was between 0.5 and 0.9. quite a spread there. so what happens when london hits 0.3 and manchester is going up. around 0.9 . lockdown ends or does it continue ? it clearly must continue for manchester which is being hit harder now and may need another month. but then what happens if it middlesbrough has i high 'R' number ? we keep the national lockdown even though many places are beyond it or never needed it. so the country ends up with 18 months of lockdown where 2 months for individual cities at different times would have been enough.
but lets see those 'R' numbers by city.

this governments only success is the mantras they use. they should be an advertising agency. 'helps you work rest and play' ' probably the best govenment,,,e.t.c.'
we had 'get brexit done' then when the chancellor was doing the budget and as subsequent briefings ' whatever it takes' repeated and repeated.
the new one is ' the right decisions at the right time '
yeah like waiting till the virus had been brought in from spain . italy and china before stopping flights. letting people quarantine themselves like some honesty box at a work place for goodies ( yeah i put money in for those smarties i had yesterday )
or waiting till after the cheltenham festival had taken place to bring in lockdown
waiting for the football league to cancel games before they acted.
not getting PPE in place when we could see the pandemic coming 3 weeks in advance
and now they say they are going to ease restrictions on sunday. great . so we have the bank holiday weekend and people believing restrictions will be lifted a day later so what difference does a day make. we could have a get together. a barbie. but dominic raab cleared it up. he said he had made it quite clear the restrictions in place at the moment are the restrictions we go by and the restrictions on sunday will be the restrictions we go by then, brilliant so one day we have restrictions against getting together and the next day we may not but we do not know. all they had to do was tell us on thursday. stupid stupid stupid.
there is talk of extra protection for ethnic minorities who are at greater risk. good. all for that people thinking an looking out for safety. they have a 1.8 increased risk. while the over 50s have a 20 times increased risk. that is 20 times. not two point zero. TWENTY times. can we look out for them. i do not want to criitcize constantly ( but with this level of ineptitude and thousands of people dieing what choice is there ) so i would like to repeat my positive steps.
over 50s get a longer furlough period until infections stop. in china they had day after day of no new infections before they ended their lockdown. here they have subtly changed one of their conditions from ' no second peak' to ' no second peak that overwhelms the NHS ' so they still catch it and still die but at least they have a hospital bed. and the death rates in this country are worse than anywhere .
those over retirement age should be automatically retired instead of being allowed to continue working.
reduce the retirement age.

so now we are to be encouraged to go back to work. but while we are there to BE AWARE. be aware ? how ? can we spot the virus now ? we are told the 'R' rating in the UK is between 0.5 and 0.9 . but where is it 0.5 and where 0.9. lets face it 0.9 is just teetering below the crucial 'R' figure of 1. so how alert should we be if we do not know what the 'R' rating is in our area. so if you work in Manchester with a high 'R' rating ( I am guessing, that is not an official rating ) can you be more AWARE than someone in an area with a lower rating. and if you are over 50 with a 20 times higher chance of death wouldn't you want to be able to take into account the 'R' rating where you work. completely vague. non leadership.

oh yeah. people are allowed day trips from 'WEDNESDAY' wednesday why wednesday. what is so special about next wednesday. why could this not have been announced before the bank holiday weekend and people could have actually made use of it without the risk of fines. are we to believe they have been monitoring the situation between last wednesday and today and it has suddenly got safer. this government would be a laughing stock if it did not result in so many needless deaths,.

yeah i am not letting this go. you know it.
so we are easing lockdown. just like italy and china did before us
but china had days and days of no new infections first. in Chiba south of Wuhan they had 19 ( nineteen ) days with no new infections before they eased the lockdown.
Italy, which went into lockdown weeks before us has only just eased it. in fact the mayor of milan said on friday he may bring back restrictions as the social distancing regulations are being breached, but this months deaths have only been above 250 twice and have been below 200 the last few days new cases above 2000 twice since april 26th
the UK since april 7th daily new cases have been flatlining since april 7th. i know they show that graph on the daily briefing but take away that spike at the beginning adn the daily cases are usually over 4000 per day and the deaths too above 600 twice last week and they will go up again next week tuesday or wednesday when the actual counting is done. the weekend count is unreliable which explains todays ( relatively ) low figure.
please do not take my word for this . check it out. all the info is on the site. worldometers.info/coronavirus/ and as soon as you have done that. if you are over 50 and live in a city take out life insurance.

the interesting phrase in that was 'YOU NEED TO DO WELL OR THE PERIOD NEVER ENDS' like i have mentioned previously in the area of china where they had an outbreak they went 19 days without new infections. they made they had ' done well' before opening up people to the risk of infection. plus their health system was able to apply itself with the centralised government giving unlimited funds ( remember our government mantra 'whatever it takes' well the chinese did that ) so that the deaths from the virus were around 3.5 percent which is still bad if you or your loved one is one of the 3.5 percent. here the death rate from the virus is around 15 % . massively more. it is ironic that on a weekend to celebrate the 'greatest generation' that went through the war and the government have wrapped themselves in union flags that they have let down that generation and anybody in a care home and now anybody over 50 with or without underlying health issues.
what was it boris quoted Salus populi suprema lex esto. he is such a bare faced liar.

what an absolute joke. the pm said on sunday night about people who can go to work to go to work on monday , today now we are told this is to start on wednesday.
they say lockdown may be applied by geographical location, good. i championed this, if you read back. some time ago. the problem is they still have not said which locations. they have not given the 'R' number by either city or location. so how the hell do we know if we can go back to work if we do not know if lockdown is still being enacted in our area ? is this what 'STAY AWARE' means ? are we supposed to be aware of the 'r' number in our area.
likewise we are now told we can journey to any destination regardless of distance. now i am assuming that this does not include the geographical locations which will continue with lockdown. but again how do we know if we are travelling to one of these areas without the info.
also the PM says ( today ) that companies will be given instructions on how work safely with this virus. and this will be , PUBLISHED LATER THIS WEEK.
similarly public transport will be given instructions and again they will be published later this week. how are they supposed to be put in place by wednesday ?
restrictions will stay in place for vulnerable groups. i.e the over 70s. what about the over 50s ? the death rate is 20 times higher for the over 50s surely this makes them vulnerable. the death rate in this country is already atrocious compared to other countries and when i say other countries i mean any country. ANY pick on . go on pick on. pakistan. turkey boliva cuba germany . france italy anywhere you pick has a lower death rate from this virus so we need to be more protective of more people in vulnerable groups as the chances are so much higher that people will needlessly die.

okay i know some people only read the last post but please read the above. i am watching thr prime minister . the regulations that he is going to put to workplaces and the public health service he is calling 'COVID COMPLIANT ' not sure what i called it.
but,,
the point i want to make is he has just been asked about the local lockdowns and he said they would monitor and if covid 19 with the 'COVID ALERT SYSTEM ' and he said , ( honestly ) "if the covid was detected in the local water supply,,,,,
water supply ? have i missed this. water supply has anybody even the internet conspiracy theorist suggested it is in the water supply.

okay. can anyone explain this to me please. ANYONE.
the UK has the highest death total in europe and the worst death rate per infection in the world. 223000 infections 32000 dead. France has the fifth highest number of infections in the world and the fifth highest number of dead in the world . but,,,
we now have deal with france where people can come from france without going into quarantine. people from Anguilla ( 3 cases ) 2 weeks quarantine. people from British virgin islands ( 7 cases ) 2 weeks quarantine. but people from France ( 177000 cases ) do not need to quarantine. do i need to explain the quarantine rationale ? the idea is that people who come here with the possibility of carrying the disease are quarantined for 2 weeks ( the incubation period ) to ensure they are not infected and cannot infect the people of this country ( in exactly the way that spanish people infected liverpool people when they went there for a football match ) seems reasonable. except that... the virus is rife in France. the people in france are some of the people we need to be stopping coming here. my maths may not be great but i reckon that a french person coming here is 25000 times more likely to bring a case of covid than someone from british virgin islands.
anyone else think that the conservative Prime Minister Boris johnson has shown his true colours and put some financial deal before they health of his country ? Salus populi suprema lex esto, you can quote cicero but you are no cicero .
