  Anyone going to be watching the cricket T20 world cup? Who do you think is gonna take the trophy, will England manage to beat Afghanistan?
  I think the dark horses (pardon the pun) could be the West Indies, with a few of their players having been in the IPL, their super big hitters could do the job for them, Chris Gayle is just a monster when he gets it right. Only thing is, they gotta bowl pretty good as well.
  
  Just saw some of the warm up match between Pakistan and India, Pakistan looked quite sharp as well.
  
  So if you are a T20 fan, get your popcorn and some tinnies ready for super sixes being hitting everywhere...

  Not really a fan, the format should be kept for domestic level only. The West Indies are not dark horses their squad is full of great T20 players. Test cricket is still the benchmark and should be kept that way.

  But it is fun to watch, when you get a good match.
  Kicked off this afternoon with Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe with Zimbabwe winning toss and putting Sri Lanka in to bat who after some tricky overs in the middle post a respectable 182-4. Unfortunately, I think Zimbabwe was up for comedy fielding award, some shocking throwing worthy of 5 year olds...
  Then Ajantha Mendis takes 6 wickets for 8 runs in his 4 overs and that was that, 100 all out with 15 balls to spare. Not really a classic match in any sense and a pity to see Zimbabwe so poor, as they have been much better than this.

  Won't get to watch much of it, as the start times are either 11am or 3pm. Think England would have had a much better chance if KP had gone, but I guess that issue will take some time to sort. In those conditions its hard to see past one of the teams from the sub-continent for the eventual winner

  Only third match but dare I say the most exciting one so far, the Afghanis win toss and field, a bit like Zimbabwe with their comedy fielding and a few dropped catches which may have changed the game? Their bowling wasn't too bad only marred by a disastrous 14 wides... anyway a few Indians make a start and looked pegged back a little but some fine hitting at the death puts them at 159-5 with Dhoni hitting a 4 and a 6 off the last 2 balls.
  In come the Afghans and bugger me (a figure of speech only...) they can bat a bit too even emulating the Dhoni helicopter shot. Pity they can't handle the short ball though but pitch it up and they'll happily whack it for a boundary. A bit of a scrabble with the spinners at the middle order and they lose the plot but still make 136 all out, pretty decent.
  
  I hope England watched this as they may not be the pushovers England hope them to be, but saying that in their warm up game today with Pakistan they make 111 but manage to restrict the Pakis to 96-9 ??? most strange this T20 game is..

  Only one match today. the second seeds take on the 11th, South Africa vs Zimbabwe.
  Prior accounts of a dose of delhi belly rampaging through the South African team doesn't seem to have made any lasting problems. SA win the toss and choose to field. Arghhhh another poor mediocre batting display but also decent bowling from Sa sees the Morkels clean up the openers and then Kallis swipes through the middle order being on a hat trick in the 11th over but missing out. Only Craig Ervine shows some resistance but he goes for 37 and poof, they manage to get through the 20 overs but only for 93-8 with Kallis taking 4 wickets for 15 runs.
  So how many overs will it take for SA to get these then, then answer to that is 12.4 overs with Levi getting his 50 and Amla hitting 32, who also survives a dropped catch late on. 94-0 and a win by 10 wickets.
  Not an exciting game at all...
  
  so now it should be all fireworks (hopefully) for SA to meet Sri Lanka on Saturday

  Now it's time for Grp D with Bangladesh vs New Zealand; with Pakistan the other team in this group all of them must be thinking they have a good chance of qualifying through to the super eights.
  Ban wins toss and decides to bowl, Guptill whacks a 6 in the 2nd over but Razzak cleand bowls him in the 4th for only 11. Bring on Brendon McCullum, thwack, crack and more, the big guy gets 123 from only 58 balls and gets out to a catch on the last ball but NZ post 191-3.
  In come Bangladesh but their batting is just not up to it. Mills gets into the top order and takes 3 wickets and Southee takes another 3 for only 16 runs, 132-8. Bangladesh's only hope now is to beat Pakistan!

  Well, time for England vs Afghanistan, if the Afghanis play as well as they did against India this could interesting.
  Afghans win the toss and decide to bowl; 1st over and it's a wicket maiden, Kieswetter out chopping on the last ball of the over !!! what are you playing at England. So Luke Wright comes in and after a couple of good overs score is 52 for 1 at the end of the powerplay. Wright shows hy he should have been picked, lovely batting and survives with a dropped catch and bludgeons his way to 99 not out, he seems disappointed he missed his century. Useful contribution from Hales, Morgan Buttler and Bairstow and they end up 196-5. Should be more than enough.
  Afghans are 2-1 after 1st over and 2-2 after 1.1. More wonky batting and it's 26-8, abit out classed now but Naib score a mighty 44 to avoid being out for the lowest T20 score ever, making 80 all out.
  
  
  
  I liked the Afghans, they showed some good skills. I hope they get a chance to play more, but doubt they'll have many takers for a home series!!

  So match 7 and it's Sri Lanka vs South Africa, both teams are through to super eights so no real pressure.
  Rain in Hambantota means the games is reduced to 7 overs a side. Sri Lanka wins the toss and decode to bowl, hoping to be able to run down any score put up by SA.
  SA 21 for 1 after the 2 over powerplay, another wicket and de Villiers comes in and hits a nifty 30 from 13, SA post a respectable 78 for 4.
  Sri Lankas turn, and they just can't seem to get going, only 2 batsmen make it to double figures and that's it 46 for 5. A thorough whomping was had.
  
  
  
  next up the Aussies vs the Windies, hope for some fireworks...

  Match 8 and the battle of big hitters hopefully, Australia vs West Indies, as bumble has been saying on commentary hope for some WALLOP ;)
  
  The Windies win the toss and decide to bat. An early wicket in the 2nd over and Gayle is also a bit quiet, but Johnson Charles starts and then does Gayle, Wallop, Wallop, Wallop 53 for 2 at the end of powerplay. Gayle gets his 50 then is c&b by Watson, Marlon Samuels takes over, more wallop, he gets his 50 and also gets out, Braco, Pollard and Sammy all make a few runs and puts up 191 for 8
  It's time for that man Warner, a quickfire 28 from 14 balls and he's out, now it's down to Watson and Hussey, time for them to have a few wallops, 62-1 at end of powerplay and motoring along at 100 for 1 when in the 10th over it's raining and off they go. Unfortunately that's it for the game but the Aussies are happy, they are well in front of D/L score and win the match.
