  James Gunn is back for the third (well actually it's technically the fourth because of the recent Holiday Special) and final time with his merry band of intergalactic misfits. We get small glimpses of time-displaced Gamora, Adam Warlock, the High Evolutionary and baby Rocket.

  Have I been unknowingly subject to a pavlovian conditioning experiment, a psyop of some kind? Disney have got the creating of movie trailers down to an artform. I knew the joke at the end was coming from a mile away, I felt like I was trained to expect it and laugh.

  It looks like this third instalment is going to lean heavily the emotion of Rocket's origins and Peter trying to rekindle his romance with the Gamora from the alternate timeline. 
  
  I understand the criticisms of the formulaic template of modern trailers, it's like how every trailer from decades ago used to have the deep voiced man explain the plot of the film. All five major Hollywood studios hire specific companies who's job it is to edit and create trailers. Given the popularity of youtube content creators' reaction videos, it's lead to everyone being stuck in a loop chasing algorithms.
  
  Depending on the genre of the film, they'll all follow a certain structure with their trailer. If it's a horror film, it'll have a jump scare stinger. If it's a comedy, it'll have a joke stinger. If it's an action film, it'll have an action stinger. The recent trailer for The Flash by Warner Brothers has a joke at the end of the trailer. The new trailer for Fast X by Universal Studios has an explosive action scene at the end of it's trailer.
  
  One recent new trend in trailers is the down tempo remix of a contemporary song, that seems to have started with Jordan Peele's use of The Luniz "I Got Five On It" in his trailer for Us. In the trailer for Fast X the use a down tempo version of "Notorious Thugs" by Biggie and Bone Thugs.

  Saw the trailer this might be one that gets Marvel Phase 4 out of a funk, some of the movies that have come out of the post End Game have been a bit hit or miss. 
  
  I hope this was good, the trailer was enjoyable

  Yeah the Age Of Ultron trailer had a down tempo/remix of Pinocchio's "I've got no strings", it's quite common practice like you say.
  
  There's nothing wrong with liking Marvel, I loved everything up until the beginning of phase 4, I just think there needs to be some fresh ideas, It's become quite stale imo. It's one of the reasons I didn't like the "New" Star Wars trilogy, Disney just thought they could ride off of the success of the Star Wars franchise as a whole and blatantly copy the original trilogy.

  I enjoyed Shang-Chi but I totally agree, Phase Four has been underwhelming. Maybe the pandemic had an effect on it's release schedule, filming protocols and writing process. The Star Wars sequels were disappointing, but I loved Andor. TBH I've got issues with Columbia, Paramount, Universal and Warner Brothers, not just Disney. The only studios I have confidence in are A24 and Blumhouse.

  Wow didn't know A24 did Ex Machina and Hereditary, fantastic movies.
  
  Haven't seen Andor, heard good things but I don't want to give Disney anymore energy.

  James Gun's swansong in the MCU, before he fully takes over the creative helm at DC and directs Superman Legacy, is great tearjerking end to an incredible trilogy. The star of the show is Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, and Chukwudi Iwuji is just as good as the film's antagonist. Pratt, Gunn, Diesel, Bautista, Saldana and Bakalova are all great too as the rest of the Guardians. But a special mention has to be given to Klementieff and Gillian, who were incredible. All the music is amazing as expected, and No Sleep Til Brooklyn is an outstanding needle drop. There are a few really cool cameos and there are two post credit scenes.
