Radio Rentals, bloody hell, that's nostalgic... Reminds me of the first Tele's that we had, that I can remember anyway, was from D.E.R. and you called out 'the man' whenever you had a problem, and up he came with his 'big box' of 'tools' (0).(0)
I can also remember getting the first teletext upgrade, it was this big fuck-off PWB, the size of a Hardbook book that he installed, woooooooooo, teletext.... now it's all on 1 chip the size of a stamp...

We had one of these wonderful examples of solid state and at just 3 tons it was one of RRs slimline models, it was delivered by the Royal Engineers on the back of a tank transporter and came complete with its own gravity, i once spent a whole afternoon trying to break orbit after watching Mr Ben.
It came in a box big enough to significantly reduce the Vietnamese refugee problem! infact my dad cut two windows and a door into it, put it out in the garden and my younger sister and two of her friends spent the summer of 74 in it!

That's it, big old wooden square boxes that quite literally need two hefty blokes to bring it in, and humungous knobs and dials you could twiddle with...

We also had one with sliding shutter doors lol, and I don't know about RR, but the DER sets were always breaking down, we knew the repairman (John his name was) quite well... Out with his soldering iron or a new PWB and it was right as rain again until the next occurrence...

3 channels, Dr Who on a Saturday night, then a bit of Hughie Green, lets get that clapometer moving, that was a blast - & I mean that most sincerely folks!!...

No the RR tellys were no more reliable than DERs and i often come home from school to the smell of solder, they were prone to over heating too, it was like having a wood burning stove in the corner, me da' used to put green tomatoes on the top to ripen! the guys from RRs used to tell us to make sure the curtains wernt touching the back as it could cause a fire, that was the good thing about RRs, great corncern for customer service, bless em!

Scotty, your right there, the 'yooot' of today 'DONT know they're born' all these electronic gadgets, games n gizmos! We had a yard of Donkey Lazzy, a pocket full of pebbles, jam buttys and dandelion & burdock to see us through 6 long weeks off school! and did you hear us complain? well yes all the time, but thats not the point, the point is im fucking jealous and i want my time again! bastard kids, youth is wasted on the young!

Joking apart do you really think its a dish problem? I mean if the dish was out of line wouldnt that effect all the channels and not just the C4 ones ive mentioned?
Im to fucking tight to get a repair man out, so before i have our kid ballanced atop a ladder while im in the living room shouting ooh yeah thats it, whooo no back a bit, yeah thats it there! ....are you sure its the dish?

Yeah, it happens like that, I had to get my sky dish done last year as it was doing the same thing.
It all depends on the channels and where they sit on the band, that's why you still get some and not others. You can do it yourself , the best way is to buy a Satellite Finder gizmo for about £15, a dial one is best and easiest, like this one https://cpc.farnell.com/philex/27860r/sa...h=Products From This Range&MER=e-bb45-00001003

You'll also need some f-plugs to make the connections to it, a bit of coax and you're sorted.... oh and someone who likes going up a ladder...
