RE: EUROS 2016...

It's a fine line between between being unlucky and just not good enough, but the warning signs were there against Russia and Slovakia, as well as the first half of the Wales game.
We had more than enough possession in the tournament, but how many clear-cut chances did we actually create?
Before last night's game Glenn Hoddle was talking about the need for Sterling and Sturridge to keep wide and engage with the full backs, play the overlaps and create some space. Bang on I thought, but it didn't pan out anything like that. How many times did you see Walker and Rose (particularly the latter) pick the ball up just past the halfway line, have no-one available, then get crowded out by two banks of four Icelandic shirts?
And what was Hodgson's answer to this? Just chuck on more strikers! I couldn't believe it when he took Sterling off for Vardy. He'd had a decent game and was our only bit of natural width further up the pitch. Should have been Kane that was sacrificed, then Sturridge could have gone in to the middle, and with Sterling and Vardy either side we might have looked a halfway balanced team.
Thought Rashford looked decent when he came on, probably caused more panic in the last 5 minutes than the rest of the team did in the previous 85.
But really, the 4-3-3 should have been abandoned the moment Welbeck got injured. A 4-4-2 with Milner wide right (he'd at least hold his position and engage the full-back), Sterling on the left, Townsend as back-up. Hang on, the latter wasn't selected, was he? We needed ALL the strikers...
One last thing, how the fuck do you arrive at a major tournament with Harry Kane as your dead-ball man??
Woeful.
