  Roy Hodgson's just announced his squad for next week's friendly against Scotland.

  I'm with you on the 'drop Danny Welbeck' bit, not sure on Hooper yet though. It's one thing to bang them in up in Scotland but he's unproven at Premier League level. If he has a good season at Norwich then yes.

  So it's the Auld Enemy tonight then. I think i'm most looking forward to analysing Wayne Rooney's body language and trying to decipher what it says about his relationship with David Moyes.
  
  But even without that fascinating sub-plot, this fixture could never be another one of those meaningless international friendlies you hear so much about. Having said that, I do think more could have been done to ramp up the drama. Why did no-one think to set it up as an Independence Referendum grudge match? Winner keeps the North Sea oil reserves, something like that...
  
  On the pitch, Southampton's saviour and future England legend Sir Rickie Lambert should make his long-awaited debut. Rooney doesn't appear to have any fitness issue but Ashley Young has pulled out with an injury. Other than that, and the absence of Andy Carroll and Daniel Sturridge, the home side look close to full strength.
  
  Liam Bridcutt is the only Scotland withdrawal but with Gordon Strachan selecting a 29-man squad for this match, he should have enough in reserve. Scott Brown will lead his team out at Wembley.
