  yea for sure they not in shape to win the world cup and it's neither optimistic nor pessimistic. i mean SHOULD really make the finals, there is enough quality in the side to do that, but yea it won't be this tournament (and not even the next two) for the trophy. england squad should set a goal to win the world cup, say, 10 years from now. that's much more realistic and works towards that

  the only thing with that is i don't see many exciting youngsters around and with more pressure on teams to perform less chances for them. plus the % of english players keeps getting lower in the prem.

  We don't need hundreds of youngsters, just 30-40 coming through who are good enough to challenge (though to be fair even that looks be a tall order).
  
  Who knows what's sat in the academies at the moment and could be amazing in 5-10 years though? I think it's luck as much as anything. Belgium haven't got some amazing youth strategy, but look at the squad they'll be taking to Brazil.
  
  Doesn't hurt to look in to the reasons for failure but i'm not sure about quotas, if a player's good enough then they'll make it.

  England: 1 Hart 2 Walker 3 Baines 4 Gerrard 5 Cahill 6 Jagielka 7 Townsend 8 Lampard 9 Sturridge 10 Rooney 11 Welbeck
  
  Attacking looking line-up. Lampard and Gerrard are a pretty offensive shield and then there's Townsend, Rooney and Welbeck supporting Sturridge.

  wow i'm very surprised with that line up. i'm not a big fan of 442, but i'm excited with how positive they are with that team and how attacking they should be.

  Looks more like a 4-2-4 to me. And the '2' aren't shy when it comes to getting forward either.

  yeah this is one of the most attacking english sides ive seen, baines and walker love going forward too. maybe hodgson was on coke when he picked the team.

  4-1 nice easy game in the end however that ref is shite missed jagelka being almost punched to the ground early in the second half inside the box

  it's really wierd that you play a positive team and get a positive result. this is what england have needed for ages, play an attacking game to try and win the game.
