  Whistle's gone at Wembley where it finishes 1-0 to Germany.
  
  Hardly a vintage performance from England and there was a fair few boos at the end there. Still, only a friendly right? Right?
  
  And in Paris, the French have gotten away with it. 3-0 winners on the night, 3-2 on aggregate, and they join Portugal, Croatia and Greece in booking their place at next year's World Cup.
  
  So what did everyone think of England then?

  Imagine if they'd had their first choice out? Even with the second string they looked more than comfortable tonight.

  I thought England looked okay without ever really looking threatening. That's two blanks in a row now. I just dont think we have the quality in the final third to beat the better sides. We're lacking a genuine playmaker in midfield (although Townsend is showing signs of being a real threat) and a clinical finisher.

  basically its not really good enough, they don't look threatening or strong enough. and look at some of the combinations germany put together at times, they looked pretty good on both flanks actually. its not a harsh defeat like roy says either.

  We didn't get a shot on target which is just embarrassing and not good enough at any level. We had a fair bit of possession in the first 30 minutes but did nothing with it, hard to see us improving enough for next june

  I'm really not convinced by Townsend. He's exciting with the ball at his feet but I'm sick of seeing him shank it from 25+ yards. You're not Gareth Bale, son.
  
  Definitely need to see an overall improvement by next June but with the experimental line-ups and all the substitutions I'm not too concerned by these two friendly defeats.
  
  We'll know our actual level when it matters, and go out in the last 16 or quarter finals, obviously.

  Yeah I was watching the game with a mate who is a spurs fan and I had to say to him that Townsend needs to improve his all round game to cut it with the best sides. It'll come in time though, was Tom Cleverley on the pitch by the way?? lol
