Definitely does, they obviously need to both be confident in each others ability to work together. As much as they are treated like different teams i think they need to be more open and working together as a unit in order to help bring those players through in a more experienced environment and a previous partnership can only aid that. That's why i think Appleton would be great for the role.
Phil Neville would be a cracking shout, he would need some guidence though so i would, if it is him, then maybe looking at bringing in a co-manager or assistant who can be a solid adivsor.
A shout that i haven't seen mentioned and somebody i think could sneak up into the fold would be David Platt, providing Mancini doesn't take him to his next gig this summer.
