Dude gets circumcised by mistake after surgeons mix up his notes

Imagine popping into hospital for a routine check up on your bladder and being given an unauthorised circumcision instead. It may sound like a plot to a Mr Bean episode but this actually happened to some poor dude after the surgeons mixed up his notes.

 

The unnamed patient was in hospital to have a cystoscopy which is a procedure that uses a thin camera to examine inside the bladder. So pretty different to having your foreskin popped off. But after surgeons got the guys paperwork mixed up with someone else’s, he ended up with no foreskin. 

 

Apparently the error was one of eight 'never events' which took place at University Hospital of Leicester NHS Trusts last year. Shouldn’t really use the term ‘never events’ if it’s happened 8 fucking times!!!

 

In April last, another patient also had surgery that was meant for another man with a similar name. The report said:
  

Failure to demonstrate learning from never events has been a concern for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland commissioners and partners for some time.

 
Another one of the 8 cock-ups happened in November when a patient had a hip nail implanted in the wrong side. Yikes. I don’t know what’s happening about the guy who was wrongfully circumcised but I reckon he’ll get a pretty juicy payout.  Probably best to avoid the University Hospital of Leicester in future though, just in case!
