  Im starting this thread in the tv section even though it concerns both the tv series and the movie. As im kind of in a televisual wasteland at the moment (bloody summertime televison lol), i was looking for sometthing to fill part of the void. I decided to download the DC television series ' Constantine' as i had vague memories of enjoying the Keanu Reeves movie of the same name. Im glad i did. Am several episodes into the series and am really liking it. Even prompted me to dig out the Keanu Reeves Constantine movie and watch that the other day. Strange as it may seem, i prefer the tv series. Has anyone else seen this? What did you think?

  Never limed the film.
  I gave the series a chance and watched the first couple of episodes. Infinitely better than the movie but just didn't get into it (and it's been cancelled after 1 season).

  I know, thisscotsman. Story of my life, watch the pilot episode, decide we like it, download the whole series to then discover the show wont be getting a second series. Its a shame as the shows pretty damn good. Only 2 episodes left to watch now then thats that. Best thing about it, besides the darkness of the series is constantine himself. In this version he is a wise creacking and uber serious in equal measure brit with blonde hair, a real attitude and a love of the sex pistols. Awesome.

  Well, no sooner had it started, now its finished. A really good series with tons of series follow up potential. A real shame that none of the studios etc..wanted to pick it up for atleast a second season. Given how the last episode plays out its obvious that the guys behind the show were expecting there to be follow up seasons. Looks as though no dvd is ever gonna be released of the one and only season either. A real shame.

  I have heard good things about the television series but i have not gotten around to watching it just yet. I have however seen the Keanu Reeves movie and i did quite enjoy it so i might have to go back and re-watch it. if you are saying that the series appears to be better than the film then im sure it has to be good. I will have to get round to watching it soon.

  I cant believe this got canned after 1 series, Coop. It is far better than the Keanu Reves film. The constantine character is just so much more likeable and has loads more personality. At times it does get pretty damn gory as well, not a critiscism, quite the opposite. Have researched the dvd of this and by all appearances, the show has not and never will get a dvd release. A traversty (can forgive the pitifull cliffhanger premise at the end of the very last episode).

  Some potentially great news regarding Constantine. The show may have been axed but the character and who plays him certainly has not. Matt Ryan's constantine is going to feature in an episode in the new upcoming series of Arrow and also reportedly an episode of the Flash and also the new Legends of Tommorow. Great news.

  wow didnt know that the show got cancelled. i thought that this seemed like something people would be really into but apparently not. With him being in some episodes of arrow, flash and legends of tomorrow its ok that the character at least will still be around just not in his own show.

  Honestly I hated this show, and the film. I'm a big fan of the comic and both adaptions have been really disappointing, the film had Keanu Reeves as Constantine (which was always bad casting from the start), and it changed absolutely everything except for a few names.
  The TV show, couldn't stand the lead actor, too lazy to even attempt the correct accent (tried to still keep the character as a scouser when he clearly had a welsh accent), the entire character was completely toned down, Constantine is much darker (both the stories used and the character) than the watered down crap this program was.

  Oh dear, guessing you are not a fan of the film or the show jesslloydfan. Personally, i never read any of the comics on which the film / show was based so i cant draw a comparrison / critique. Who knows, if i had, i may not have enjoyed the television interpretation so much. For me, i really liked the version of Constantine in the show (as did every other member of my household). As such, im hoping appearing in a widly viewed show and being on a more terrestial viewing platform will get the character out there, generate more interest and then..hopefully..the powers that be will decide to continue with the show.
