What is up with comic book movies of late? Comic book's are supposed to be fun..........but when they are adapted to movie form all the fun is taken out and replaced with serious crap. The only comic book company to my knowledge that is staying true is Marvel. -

Most comics do have fun moments, but they do also have serious moments (bar Watchmen which is a very serious comic/graphic novel so the serious tone of the film was right). when it comes to films i find the Marvel Studios films strike the best balance, they have the serious moments of the comics but also embrace the light hearted and comedy moments.
I can see where you are coming from with some, the DC films tend to be very dour (for me anyway), a tone which i can sort of understand for Batman (although i don't think that requires a humourless tone from start to finish) but they also apply that to Superman (which shouldn't be all grim and dour. -

If you can't make a film about a billionaire playboy fun and light then you are doing something truly wrong.
Unless you choose to ignore Batman's origin (I'm looking at you camp 60's Batman) then he is pretty grim. And after Nolan's films that seems to be what DC wants and maybe intentionally Marvel went the other way. -

Tim Burton had a good balance with Batman and Batman Returns, keeping the gritty but mixing it with humour and fun. Schumacher turned Batz into a camped up laughing stock...............while Nolan made his franchise too grim, serious and real, potentially making them quite boring. -

I prefer Nolan's grim and gritty Batman to the other versions.
I don't need my Batman to be witty just as long as he doesn't have the Batnip's it's all good.
I guess I'm just not much of a Burton fan so while I can watch the films I'm not a massive fan of them. -

This thread is becoming slowly about Batman.
Okay, Avengers Assemble, although I do enjoy this movie I will say it is not all that it's made out to be. It has element's of enjoyment, but the rest is just BLAH!!! BLAH!!! BLAH!!! -

Could not agree more about Avengers Assemble.
Decent enough film but I don't see where all the uber love comes from.
I'm a Marvel fan so the Avengers was awesome to see. It's the culmination of all the films tying together to make that film work - but all the other films are what make the Avengers film work.
Which is why it's so odd that DC want to put together a Justice League film but having some of the characters in other/their own films. -

Will have to disagree with you both on Avengers Assemble, genuinely think that film is the best of the comic film genre, and can honestly watch that over and over and not get bored of it at all (i have watched it over and over actually).
On the whole i prefer the Marvel films to DC, and the Batman films in particular i prefer the two Burton films to the Nolan's trilogy. -
