  In: Steven Caulker (Tottenham, £8m), Andreas Cornelius (FC Copenhagen, £7.5m), John Brayford (Derby County, £1.5m), Simon Moore (Brentford, Undisclosed).
  
  Out: Elliot Parish (Bristol City, Free), Ben Nugent (Brentford, Loan).
  Released: Jese Darko, Nat Jarvis, Stephen McPhail.
  Retired: Heidar Helguson
  
  Prediction: 17th
  
  Of the newly promoted sides, Cardiff look best placed to stay up this season. They haven’t gone mad over summer but the signings of Cornelius and particularly Caulker reflect the fact that they had comfortably the best squad in the Championship last season. Unlike Hull, they need quality, not quantity. Having said that, a couple more new faces are probably required before the transfer window closes.
  
  If they can do that then I’d back Malky Mackay to just about keep them up.

  i think of the promoted sides cardiff will do the best. they are really attacking so will have more chance of winning matches and accumulating points, plus like you said they have bought a couple of quality players who should make a big difference.

  Bit of an odd one, this. Cardiff have placed Iain Moody, their head of recruitment and the man responsible for signing the likes of Steven Caulker and Gary Medel, on gardening leave.
  
  His replacement is 23-year-old Alisher Apsalyamov, a Kazakhstani friend of the owner's son who's only football experience came this summer when he painted the Bluebirds' stadium.
  
  Just stadium painting? Has this new chap not even played Champ Manager? He could do a lot worse than snapping up To Madeira, Kennedy Bakircioglu, Labinot Harbuzi, Jonas Lunden and Ibrahim Said in January, but if he hasn't at least got that on his CV then these could be worrying times for Cardiff fans.
  
  Also, the odds on Malky Mackay becoming the next Premier League manager to go have fallen from 10/1 to 2/1. Probably just coincidence...

  Ooops, this was always a possibility when you get new owners, but I can't understand the reasoning behind, perhaps there's more behind doors issues than were revealed previously... He's not a dull chap is Vincent Tan, and understands that Cardiff is now extra marketable in Asia being in the PL, so why go and fuck it up!!!

  The thing is, changing the colour of the shirts aside, it's all looked fairly sensible up to now.
  
  They haven't gone down the Blackburn route of having an agent controlling the transfers and bringing all his own (shit) men in. Recruitment has been solid up until now, why change it?

  I remember thinking when there were all the protests about changing the shirt colour that it was probably a price worth paying for all the investment. And they wouldn't be in the Prem now without Vinny.
  
  But since all the stuff about the young Kazakhstani chap and interference on transfers and team selection has come out, you have to wonder if it's all worth it? If I was a Cardiff fan I think I'd rather still be in the Championship with a normal owner, than in the Prem with a nutter.
