  I loved empire, but don't think it was LOADS better than a new hope, a new hope has standalone qualities where as empire has to be viewed as part of the trilogy. ummmmm, lets see. X-men 2 maybe. I loved Batman begins, but thought the dark knight was better. Terminator 2?

  I'd say Casino royale is better than alot of the other bond films,
  but that might not count since story wise they started again.

  i really can't agree with that, i absolutely hated casino royal and the other new bond film whatever it was. i mean bond just came across like a bit of a pussy to be honest, the story was seriously boring, that scene at the poker table or whatever it was felt like it went on forever!
  
  the whole reason i used to love bond was for the fast cars, hot women and cool gadgets, and they pretty much took that all away, in the most recent one he drives a bloody fiesta!
  
  i know they were trying to make it more like the books but it just sucked, if they wanted to make him a more believable character etc... they should have looked at the bourne series of films, those are amazing and jason comes across as being fairly believable (with a little hollywood make believe) and there's no spectacular gadgets etc... involved, but the bond films just got it worng

  but personally i thought the bond films before casino royale got too ridiculous and i liked the darker tone of CR, plus i never really liked brosnan as bond, wheras i like daniel craigs portrayal of bond.

  i'm not a big bond fan or anything, but it was the sillyness of them that made them good, a good bit of action, some sexy women to look at, great sunday night viewing. as i said i just came away with the impression that if i were to meet the daniel craig bond in a dark ally that i could kick his ass, at least with the bonds before even if they weren't big and strong you knew they'd just shoot you with their watch or something lol

  OK, here's the thing.
  
  Casion Royal had nothing to do with Bond in any sense whatsoever. There was no song at the beginning, Bond was Blond, The gadgets were missing, as was Q, The action sequences were also missing as were the Driving the fancy car in a cool way scenes. In short everything that made a bond film recognisable as a bond film had been removed in favour of a terrible story with nobody i cared about, i didn't even care when he was getting his balls smacked through a chair.
  
  As for them needing to take a look at Bourne, they did in the sequel which is why the first ten minutes was unwatchable shaky nonsense.
  
  I agree that the Aston Martin Vanish was a very poor idea that should have been left out but the rest of that film was at least shot in a way that didn't make me want to vomit and had a very Bond feel to it.
  
  If they never make another Bond with Daniel Craig it will be too soon.
