Just wondering as there seems to be alot of rock and metal fans on here, who they consider to be the best or their favourite guitarist?
Personally i think jerry cantrell is brilliant, and synester gates, i think i spelt that wrong, from Avenged is excellent.

I don't have a favourite but the very best guitarist is malmsteen. A lot if people don't like him which I fine. A lot of people think he looks like a dirty sleaZeball and the fact that he attracts women is just wrong which is true. But he is still the best do a search and you'll see.

I have genuinely never heard of him, maybe i'll see if i can find some of his stuff on youtube. Another guitarist who was really talented and was very popular but sadly is dead now was dimebag darrel, was a shame what happened to him.

see i really don't think he's good, if you look at it from a purely technical standpoint then yes he's good, but all he does is basically wank the neck and it's not actually musically very good, it's more technically hard than it is musically impressive

i've always rated Michael Amott and younger brother Christopher Amott fairly high myself

That's why I say he is the best I don't think there is much argument technically. Whether you like him or not is another story. But yeah he is not exactly easy listening lol

yeah but that was kind of my point, i think in order to be the best/most talented it should also sound good and not just be technically difficult to play

it's the same kind of thing as the world record holders for double bass, it's seriously fast and very impressive technically, but you wouldn't want them in your band, unless of course you were the berzerker or something lol

Well I would not go that far. First of all it's a matter of taste And second its not as though the man just goes out there to run music drills over and over what he does certainly takes creativity imo. Maybe the problem is his ego at how good he is prevented him from being very successful in a band. Then maybe he would have channeled all that talent a bit differently.

you can easily get better than joe, i've never heard him do anything that a million other guitarists couldn't do at least as well if not better. i'd even say yngwie and i'm not remotely a fan of his lol
