  Okay, lets have it, what's the worst game of all time, be it buggy, broken, shit plot or just something you couldn't get on with, what made it so bad? I've loved 99% of games I've played, but there's been a few stinkers along the way, what do we all think?

  I might get a lot of rap for this, but I couldn't get on with any of the fianl fantasy games. I just found them really dull and confusing. I haven't got the patience for games like gta or call of duty either. Gimme a good football game any day.

  Final Fantasy is a pile of rubbish. The plot is soo convoluted it's unreal, the gameplay is so repetative, the cut scenes for some of the moves in fights are soo long you can make a cup of tea, wait for it to go cold and then drink it before the cut scene is finished (and in some versions of the game they can't be skipped!!!!!!) and the 3 step random encounter system is both a pathetic waste of time and a bad way to pad out a stupid story with characters i would rather see dead than winning.
  
  Did i mention that i absolutely loath the franchise? Mostly for the reasons listed above. Who thought that encountering mobs every 3 steps was a good idea when you have to spend 30 minutes fighting them due to a stupid cinematic system only to undo 3 hours of play if you fail because you forgot to save every 2 steps?
  
  Did i mention that the whole thing is also menu driven? What sort of game in this age (i'm referring to the mmo version here) still relies on making you wade through 9 billion menu screens just to auto attack something that will never leave you alone once you agro it? That particular game also took a percentage of your XP away from you if you died, so if you had only just levelled up when you died you went back down a level!!!!
  
  And what's with calling them all final fantasy? surely only one of them can be FINAL?!?!?!?!?!?!
  
  That said it does go to serve as reminder to other games that no matter how poor you are at least you are not Final Fantasy poor.
  
  I apologise right now if you are a big fan of these things but in my defence i did warn at the start i was going to rant. It's not my fault you decided to ignore a perfectly good point, just like i'm sure you will feel the need to reign retribution down on me, although how you can defend such a turkey is beyond me.

  Jesus! There is no way I could of put it any better myself. After reading that, I'd be very surprised if anyone would try and defend it. It was quite a rant!

  lol im not just saying this because u lot all said it but i agree 100% my bro and most my friends on my friend list have got the game and iv played its as boring as they come but each man to his own i guess

  lol i never played call of duty but GTA kicks ass. you must have absolutely close to zero patience if you got no patience to play it lol, it doesn't require any just pick up the controller or mouse/keyboard and go lol
  
  final fantasy - everything said about it is 100% true no way to argue, except.... it's still an awesome game lol. yes its repetitive, the story is something about of a romance novel for 12 year old girls, but still good to play for some strange reason

  I thought i was going to get flamed for sure. Nice to see not everyone here is like my mates, who all love the FF games. We don't talk about it as it causes issues.
  
  Of course one of the worst games ever made was the one based on the Terry Prachett novels, i can't remember the name of it but it had Rincewind as the main character and it won awards for difficulty as everything had to be soooo precisely done or it told you you were doing it wrong (or worse that you shouldn't be doing that at all), but that was down to sloppy programming and not content, the content was fine.

  Mafia 2 was a rubbish recent one, or at least I thought so. Just a poor clone of the Rockstar Games formula.
  
  Any iOS gamers out there, never buy 'Warm Gun' - it's touted as a sort of Red Dead Redemption style online shooter but the graphics lag like hell and 90% of the time you can't get a connection or find anyone to play with.
  
  Worst high profile game of all time though still has to be the Atari ET game.

  You're not attacking a game you're attacking a genre, the genre of fantasy RPG which final fantasy typifies does not soley represent. These games are derivative of older pen and paper RPGs and that is the reason for the random encounters and levelling up etc etc. If you don't like those then they're not your cup of tea, but final fantasy is not the problem then, it's your distaste for RPGs.
  
  The stories are very intricate and if you don't like stories that are like that, again the majority of RPGs will not be for you, doesn't make it inherently bad. For example I don't think "something something russian dissidents, something something terrorism" is a particularly good plot but every call of duty game sells a treat, so it must work for some people. It's not objectively bad or problematic, just bad in my opinion.
  
  And they're called Final Fantasy because when the original was made the studio poured all their remaining money in it as they were on the verge of going bust, so they called it the Final Fantasy, but it was a commercial sucess so they actually made money on it and stayed open, then later basing a sequel on the original game engine, it became something of an in joke that they called them final fantasys.
  
  I wont defend MMO's because I hate all of them with equal measure.

  I'd like to point out that your point would be very valid if indeed i disliked every fantasy based games, but that is simply not the case.
  
  I love the pen and paper role playing games, i have been playing them since i was 12. I equally enjoy a massive selection of the fantasy game genre, for example Mass Effect are among some of the best games ever made, dating further back than that, Baldur's Gate and even the original Eye of The Beholder were great fantasy games.
  Baldur's Gate even had random encounters in it, the thing was they didn't slow down game play or irritate in any way, and the plot of these games was never an issue.
  
  Playing a good fantasy game can take a while, but to boast that you will be playing it for over 50 hours when most of that time is cut scenes and filler fights that take ages because of the cut scenes in fights is just plain fail.
  
  Try as you might you will not convert me to thinking that Final Fantasy is a good game just because it falls into a category of game. That's like saying if you like a film with John Travolta in you have to like Battlefield Earth (which is the worst film ever made)!
  
  While i do agree that most fantasy/rpg games have filler content in them, none of the other games ever made have as much filler as the FF games. As for the reason for calling them FF i can understand them calling the First one FF but after that they should have employed someone to use their imagination and call it something else, like maybe, the so final fantasy, or possibly, my god this is going to go on forever....
  
  
  Appologies if that sounds a little harsh, but you have no idea how much i detest these games as i feel they are a very poor reflection on fantasy gaming and rpg in general. I would also like to point out that in no way am i intentionally trying to upset anyone, and of course you are entitled to your opinion, after all freedom of speach is a good thing and so is diversity (the concept, not the group, although i hear they are good live)
