A new Captain for the T20's in Stuart Broad, but that doesn't affect the outcome a it's now played 1,lost 1 for the bash 'em up style series...
Australia beat England in Hobart
George Bailey also had something to make up for, as the only time he Captained in the ODI series, the Aussies lost! So when he won the toss, he declared, we'll bat first, and bat they did, swooshing the ball over the small boundaries to make
213-4 from their 20 overs, with Cameron White hitting 75 from 43 balls and Aaron Finch ably accompanying him with 52 from 31 balls.
But it was England's poor fielding again which allowed them to get this total, 'you don't win matches by dropping catches' and other general poor fielding.
So it was then England's turn to bat and they brought in the big guns who have been firing so well in the Big Bash League in the form of Alex Hales, Luke Wright and Michael Lumb but these boys fell quickly with only Hales managing 22 to make it 51-4 when Morgan was also out for only 4!!!!
Buttler and Root followed soon after to make it 100-6 and by then it was effectively over... However Ravi Bopara had other ideas, he seemed to be the only English player who could clear the boundary ropes, and he made his 50 in record time of only 23 balls, but it was a genuine case of too little too late as they could only make
200-9 and probably lucky to have batted out the full 20 overs....
So both good and bad then, it showed they could have won this game, but let it slip away..
Onto Melbourne for the 2nd chance on Friday morning...
But on another note, the ladies who played earlier in the day, did win their match with 13 balls to spare and retain their Ashes with an unassailable 10-4 point lead with only 2 T20's remaining... Yay, an England success.....
