Don't think we'll be seeing much play today. It's pretty grim right now and doesn't look like letting up. Here's today's forecast:
Ashes retained then by the looks of it, in the least dramatic way possible. -

OK, probably not much (if any) play today, BUT, there are still 2 more tests to come, and we can whop their aussie asses in both of those games, and show them who's the boss! -

Seriously though, I just saw on the TV that play was supposed to start at 11.30? They may start but either rain or 'Bad Light' is going to stop them soon enough. I bet the England batsmen have been doing their little rain jig/dance all morning lol...
As for the next test, all the commentators have been saying that Chester-Le-Street will be a 'result' pitch, and based on the Aussies improvement in this test then England need to pull their socks up, pretty sharpish... -

I'll be amazed if they manage 30 overs all day.
Well, losing the next one would be upsetting, but won't matter much. I still sort of hope the Aussies somehow win today (they deserve to) and give us something to play for in the last 2 tests. -

Make that 15-2 as Trott falls for 11 as he tickles one down the leg side off Harris only for Haddin to collect...
In comes KP, the man of the moment, some steady batting now from him and the nervous looking Joe Root is what's needed.
Unbelievably it seems there is sunshine at the ground? does it have it's own special weather pattern around it. -

Play resumes after a little delay for the weather at 35-3. I just watched the weather on the beeb news channel and apparently a 'gap' has opened up in that dirty great big rain cloud and that is why it's clear there at the moment (that gap couldn't have happened last night could it?? as it pissed down all night here...)
But Bad Light seems imminent, they could be coming off again at any moment... and Ian Bell has called for the physio due to a knock on the hand and yes it has started to rain and the covers are coming on and the players walk off!!! Bell's forgot about his thumb now... -
